Don't have a problem with either play. Issue on first was that he did not go up strong or try to draw a foul like a PF but instead avoided contact like a wing. In the second he made a good move but should have done a 10 foot pull up jumper. Like the effort. If we want him to expand his game, he needs to get more opportunities to create and have the ball in his hands. Yes there will be plenty of mistakes but that's part of the learning process.

Rose is like shooting 40% from 3 (and everyone on the team should know this), his shot is exactly the one Thibs has been telling the whole team to search for along with rim shots. Obi did his job. He did his job by making his prior 3 point shots and then drawing attention to put ball on floor on the second clip for the kickout. He didn't do the high school recognition level pass to a completely wide open and analytically highlighted corner 3 for a proficient shooter. This is why he gets pulled and plays less than 20 minutes and won't sniff starting unless he changes.

So, I went back and watched to make sure and yes, Rose was open in the corner. Once Obi put the ball on the deck and committed to the drive with his right hand, he was penetrating away from Rose, who spotted up on the weakside behind Obi. With that said, even-though OBi had his back turned to Rose, it does seem as though Obi knew he was there because he actually pointed toward the corner when Rose gave the ball up. As a coach, even though Obi didn't make the pass, I would not have been upset if Obi did decide to pull up or shoot the floater as opposed to turning it over.

As far as Obi getting pulled from the game, We've seen multiple occasions last year and even some this year when Obi has it going and Randle does not, but Obi still gets pulled because it looks like his minutes are capped @ 15-17 mins per night, regardless. We are judging him on 15 mins of nightly game play. He had a bad-3-4 min stretch and unfortunately for him, he doesn't have more time to make up for it with more minutes. We watched Randle play like **** for more than half of the 40 mins he played vs the Hornets but had the opportunity and minutes to come up with a big offensive rebound to help us win at the end. Before we make a final decision on Obi either way, it would help to see him play 30 mins per night, for a full 82 games.

For me, it doesn’t even matter too much what Randle is doing.

If Obi can’t recognize the correct, simple plays, he is bound for limited bench minutes on most NBA teams.

He needs to recognize the correct plays. That’s basic basketball.
