This is a great site and one thing they do well besides refute posters who make up **** with facts offers breaking stats down by the month.
This is helpful because while its cool to pigeon hole a players season its also good to see how it came to be and monthly tells a good story.
After his rough start due to covid he flat out tore it up.
Remember when Thibs said "when he can get to practicing again" some took it as him being lazy or not have a good work ethic? Shameful right?
The kid was ill and while he played thru it rested in between. No respect and I'd say knick fans have not given his due. Is it cause he from duke?
Was not kobe out the gate? not flashy enough? We just not used to steady functioning Teenagers around here? Guys like Grimes/IQ, and Obi get more love than this kid who is 22 and won't see his next birthday until JUNE!
Im fans of them too and dig the potential but while we whining about playing yoot, and we have been with RJ the Teenager was starting from day one!
Is he perfect? no. is he a finished product? not. His is not JA Morant or Zion, but the cards did not fall that way either. Zion played about 86 games in three years. Memphis is a damn good team with and without Ja and that kid is awesome. Time to appreciate what we have instead of acting like a wounded fan all the time.
Our guy? Boring Clean kid who has not offended anyone, wears his hair without flash, does not get arrested, or beat up women, get stabbed or shot in clubs, does not race a car in the streets, make music videos, movies, or date Kardashians. His agent/Brother does not make trouble for the team. He does not spew conspiracy theories or whine about his lot. He stands up to the spotlight and has no mental illness issues. He takes the pressure in stride. He EARNED his 100mil and now with a bit of pride sits up a little straighter and now asks "how that allrookie team look now?". He did with out bravado. Does not keep a list of who dissed him and seeking revenge. He is more clyde that we have had here in a long time (on the court).

The kid just hoops and wants to be here.

And for some of you that's not enough. You want him traded.

I don't think that's accurate. I don't read every comment on this website but I don't recall seeing any one ever saying they want Barrett gone/traded. I have seen, and written, that he's not untouchable and wouldn't have an issue moving him for the right player (D. Mitchell for example). We have fans who vastly overrate him and others who, I believe, are more realistic with what he has brings to the table....so far.

He did get a raw deal with All-Rookie teams but sh1t happen (i.e. Carmelo Anthony was the obvious ROY in 2003) and if I'm not mistaken, I believe All-Rookie teams are selected by NBA Coaches. I doubt these guys are looking at analytical stats to select the best players in this category. Regardless, I hope he uses this as motivation to continue to improve his game and shut the "haters" up.

True but there are that think we are better without him and he is not a great fit here. There is some validity to that convo but not absolute.

I don’t think he is motivated by being disrespected. his contract validated his stature and he is kicking ass.

Not sure how you miss it but an example would be Kemet reminding us all obsessively how much he thinks RJ sucks and that the Knicks need to dump him in pretty much every post he makes LOL.
