I agree 1000% on this thread topic and good thread to have.
The Old FO of the past, would've pulled the trigger and got the entire fan base jumping for joy. Then a few years later we would say, that was the worse decision ever. It set us back even further.
Nobody knows if RJ or Grimes will be better than DM. What I do know is we have a group of young players who are developing so much chemistry, it's a joy to watch. I can't remember the last time we had a young team, that enjoys playing with each other, and still have a boat load of picks.
I've been hard on this FO at times, but I also have to appreciate what they are developed so far. Sure Thibs seems like a veteran coach, eventhough we have a young team. But if Thibs remembers how we looked towards the end of last year, and maybe with the non DM trade, which shows the FO has a lot of value in our young core. Maybe Thibs will adjust to his current roster and not over play Randle but increase Obi minutes and others.
I'm also glad we didn't pull the trigger. I'm not sure we would surround DM with the right team / players to succeed. The Cavs already have a solid team with DM, so they will be even better. Now lets see how this all plays out. Grimes, RJ, IQ, Obi should all take a step forward which will help add more wins than last year.
I believe we will surprise a lot of teams this year, as long as Thibs doesn't get in his own way and he's able to control vets like Randle while helping the youths grow as solid NBA contributors.
