NYK Gets:
Donovan Mitchell
Brandon Ingram

NOP Gets:
Barrett
Reddish
Fournier

UTH Gets:
Derrick Rose
Obi Toppin
Kira Lewis
2024 Lakers Pick (from NOP)
2023 Detroit (Top 18 protected)
2023 Better of Knicks (Top 3 protected), Dallas (Top 10 protected), Washington (Top 14 protected)
2025 Bucks (Top 3 Protected)
2027 Knicks (Top 10 protected)

Knicks Starting 5
Brunson
Mitchell
Ingram
Randall
Robinson

Bench
McBride/Quickley/Grimes/Sims/Hart

At this point, they have 5 more roster spots to fill with not a lot of resources. I'd be looking at Melo, Paschall, and such to get the core going. Might look at using the room exception on Rokas to fight McBride for the PG second slot. Randall and Ingram are both coming off down years and are our biggest risk factor. We also no longer have depth, but I kind of want to give Perrin and Aller some room to find some more diamonds in the rough. Its a lot of picks to hand off, but I attempted to keep the Knicks in the conversation. Ingram's decline this past season on offense was offset by a greater commitment to defense. We become Pelicans North.

NOP has Trey Murphy who looks fantastic. Not sure if NOP would move Ingram, Lewis and a pick for Fournier, Barrett and Reddish, but that puts Zion's friends back together. I think Zion will co-exist better with Murphy, Barrett and Reddish than Ingram. The McCollum trade makes less sense in this context, I think they have a better young core with Barrett and Reddish instead of Ingram.

UTH gets a ridiculous haul in 5 draft picks, Obi and Lewis. They may be looking for more than this, but I don't really see how they get better.

Barrett, Toppin, Fournier, Rose and Reddish and 4 picks out hurts, but it kind of takes the uncertainties off the table and creates a team with Brunson (borderline All Star?), Mitchell (All Star, top 20), Ingram (border line all star), Randle (borderline all star?). That 4 should have plenty of ball movement and ability.

If anyone says no, I think it is NOP. What do you guys think?

You know I gonna spin wit it

I like it better than trading Grimes, although RJ is the defensive presence we absolutely need . It's not ideal

I’d rather just keep Barrett than have Ingram.

Sorry! The Knicks have winning future players that are Keepers to build on for the next two or more seasons .. MitchRob, Sims, Obi Toppin, Quickley, Grimes, McBride, and D.Rose leadership.

I wonder why no team wants Fournier, Barrett, Cam, and Randle in a trade? Does every team know their many weaknesses?

Dude seriously? I don’t even think you believe this deep down If RJ can be anything close to Brandon id be forever grateful. Pelicans have no incentive to give him up.

This is a solid trade. NO will probably want two 1st rounder picks because they value Ingram that much, but RJ has value and adding Reddish and another shooter in Fournier with two first round picks might get them to consider it, especially if Zion wants to play with RJ again. Utah gets what its want, and we get a starting five that is better than any in the league offensively. The defense may be an issue, but Ingram is not a bad defender and Thibbs can probably help Mitchell's defense.

However, I honestly would rather stand pat. By the trade deadline, there will be other opportunities and we will then have a more realistic assessment of where this team is at. If we are sitting as the 4th or 5th seed in January, then we have all the leverage in any trade talks and vets will start to demand to come here. Hopefully, the FO will continue to be patient and smart. I think more playing time for Grimes and Toppin coupled with the addition of Brunson, will make this team a top-5 team in the East.

Still wondering why people think Mitchell being a full time SG is going to work

I had a lot of the same feelings as I was typing this. I do think a consolidation move makes sense though. The guard positions have a bit too much depth to allow real development. I kind of went all in to get there. I have NOP giving up a pick for our guys while giving us Ingram and you have them gettin 2 picks. I don’t think your wrong - it is a reasonable position as well. I think the valuation on Barrett and Reddish is all over the map. Reddish can’t have lower value and Barrett’s value is more in upside than actual advanced metrics.

That 5 is pretty legitimate on both offense and defense (with the guards needing more growth in that department). Over time as they add MLE players I think it is a contender. Obviously, it becomes a question of cost, but it feels like they have too many up and coming players and not enough minutes.

Tbh, I am a big RJ fan. Think that, for his age, he has shown that he can be a solid NBA player. However, he is coming into an extension in the near future. One that probably will not be cheap. DM is top 20 talent in the NBA and is only 25. He has shown the ability to stay at that level the last few years. RJ has shown glimpses of being that but has also had stretches were he has shown he may just be a solid role player. RJ has a lot to prove before he can be considered a top fringe
player. I would be ok trading Obi, RJ, Deuce, Roka, Rose, fillers and picks. Would rather keep Grimes and IQ who I feel are showing potential for high ceilings and are on team friendly contracts for the next few years. With that said, if the Knicks can keep RJ, Grimes and IQ it would be a steal. Which is what I feel they should try to do.

Ingram is a beast. Small market top player that people forget about. NO is going to be real tough if you know who stays healthy. Feel Timberwolves and NO are going to be the biggest surprises next season.
