Reports are out J. Collins is now officially done in Atl and they are evaluating trades (know he has been on the market earlier).

So why not Randle for J. Collins? Collins may have issues but he would get a fresh start here (same as Randle in Atl). He's very athletic, shoots well from outside and plays fast. He does seem similar to Obi in play style but this would help for those not sold on Obi being starter material. We could then use Obi in a trade if he doesn't develop and still have a decent PF.

I know Atl wants to make a run at Ayton but so does about 4 other teams. Here are his last season stats...

Collins averaged 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and a block per game for the Hawks last season. He shot 52.6% from the field, including 36.4% on three-pointers. Collins has four years and $102 million left on the five-year deal he signed with the Hawks in the summer of 2021.

While I'd love to trade Randle for almost anything - Atl clearly wants to move on from J. Collins and I could see Randle being a decent fit in an offense centered around Trae. Atl may want an additional pick and hey - we've got like three 1st rounders with little value.

Trading Randle would essentially force Thibs to play more uptempo and we def need more athleticism. Offer Rubio a 1 year contract to teach IQ the PG nuances and we could actually turn into a fast break team.

Thoughts? Who says No?

Randle is better than Collins. Why trade them? If Collins was an above average defender then I could see it as a good move as you could move him to center, but Collins is barely a better defender than Randle.

Yea I don't like Randle's playing style but he is a way better player than Collins. Imagine how Collins will be if he does not have a PG gifting him easy baskets. If Randle could play in a more team concept I would totally be fine with him staying a Knick. The problem is I don't think that is possible after his breakout year.

Does his finger still look anything like this? Either way, I think Randle has a bounce-back season. That’s what I’m rooting for, anyway.

I agree Randle is better when he plays the right way... just don't think that will return. Collins passes and shot better then Randle last season (2 and 3pt) so he's not a stiff. Defensively neither are very good IMO.

It would def be a lateral move and I just don't see anyone else knocking for Randle.

As much as I would like to move Randle, this isn't the right deal imo. One of the many reasons to trade Randle is to open minutes for Obi, and this trade doesn't provide that. In addition, I would like to move Randle for a shorter contract in yrs. at the very least.

True and fair points. Hope we can find something reasonable for him before the season starts...but it's doubtful

I thought we would only be trading Randle if we thought Obi was ready to start

Yes, why not. Collins is declining statistically, he makes just as much if not more than Randle, he plays in alot less games and he's a whole 3 years younger.

Brilliant! Where do we get Leon to sign!

How many game winners has Collins hit over the last two seasons?

I rather have 16/8 and no drama over 20/10 and drama, crying to the zebras after EVERY call, not getting back on defense, hogging the ball and pouting like a big baby when things don't go his way.

Randle's stats are empty when you factor in the other stuff we have to put up with.
