…ly good. On offense anyway. I’m trying to warm up to the idea of him being a Knick.

TT……only watched the first min and 32 seconds and I’m sold. I’ve already watched him during the playoffs and I’m with you. His defense is unknown to me but he has a solid base and he’s very strong….that helps with scoring and defending in the post. Chris Paul also similar in height.

Brunson is a dog. Reminds me of R.Felton the ex knick PG. Not afraid of the moment. I don’t get caught up in the money. Everybody is over paid because nba owners and this entertainment business called the nba is making more revenue. So pay the players for once instead of the owners making money off these guys.

Regarding fit, Brunson is someone I trust. And he has a huge support system in nyc. Perfect match perfect time. Now it’s RJs time to prove he’s a consistent franchise player who got better every year. Let Randle increase his value and send him packing. Give obi some shine next season please.

I been warming up the the idea also. We have not had a decent PG is so long and we all saw how 1 healthy season for Rose improved the team so much. Signing Brunson still leaves us with assets we can use at a later date for a superstar. Yea, I talked myself into it.

I’d like to hear some thoughts on how he would work next to Randle. I don’t really see it it. I think he would work really well with Toppin though.

I also keep looking at Zach Lavigne and wondering if there is a play there.

I believe Leon has put us in play for all of the above. And Randle already used to taking a step back with RJ. I think he needs to focus on improving his individual stock then we trade him mid season. Obi fits the development movement more than Randle.

Need to make Randle a finisher. Shouldn’t be an issue. The problem might be Mitch.

Brunson can shoot the 3. but is most comfortable and effective 15 feet and in, especially in tje paint. As currently constructed. our spacing was an issue last year and will be this year when you consider Mitch hanging out at the dunker spot and Randle at the elbow. Even when Randle was outside the 3 pt line, most teams didn't respect it and sagged off. RJ is not an elite shooter either.

Adding Brunson should just be the beginning. More moves need to be made to open up the court and paint for Brunson in order to utilize all of his skills. Giving Obi extended mins with Brunson is one move...

He has some tony parker in him. His work in the paint is impressive.
He is a playmaker and will draw defense to him. that will make life easier for Randle. And RJ.

Think of the ex-knicks players on Mavs of late. KP, Timmy, Trey Burke, Bullock, and of course our own home grown Frank.

Real story is Frank pushing Brunson out!

I have been hearing that knicks and Randle talked and a reduced role is a possibility.if the knicks can somehow bring the energy and effort of the 2nd unit( start IQ and OBi) maybe the knicks can have an offense 2nd unit of Randle and Fournier together with grimes Drose and sims. I dont see Randle moving to the second unit but if Thibs is sold on Obi, there might be a chance.

If they cant swing a signing for Lavine or Beal and sign Brunson, i hope a starting line up of

Mitch, Obi, RJ, IQ(Grimes), Brunson can be good enought to reach the play in. Having Lavine or Beal might probably be good enough for outright playoffs.

Can a backcourt pairing of Brunson and Murray make sense?

Brunson is really good. I had hoped they could trade for him during the season. Now it’s late since he blew up in the playoffs but if u can get him just for money and can save the future picks for a bigger fish that’s the best option right now.

Agreed! I was against this plan a month ago but now think it's a good idea. I think Thibs wants the office to be drive and kicks with Robinson in the dunker spot. Having four guys on the court who can do that and average 4+ assists each should be a decent one. Turnovers will be a problem but if you can get past your man and have the best finisher in the league lurking under the basket it should be difficult to stop.

I fear a repeat of the Chris Childs story. Couple of decent games from a guy, and here we are opening up our wallets and committing cap room long term.

2-3 more seasons of guaranteed mediocrity before we can begin to move the Randle, Fournier and Brunson contracts off the books as expirings. That's assuming RJ and Mitch will be worth the large extensions we would be throwing their way too.

What happens if we steal Brunson away and Luka comes in out of shape and maybe misses a chunk of games next season and the Mavs regress and Knicks end up with a Dallas draft pick in that 12-15 pick range? That would be a nice little bonus to signing Brunson.

That’s kind of my point. If you rewatch that video, there aren’t many blue jerseys in the paint unless it’s a player cutting from the corner. Randle generally parks at the top of the block and Robinson is generally boxing out on the lower block. I mean, whether it’s Barrett attacking the rim or Brunson, isn’t Toppin the better option given his ability to move without the ball and his excitement to finish off a lob? You basically have to make Randle a small ball center to let him play with Brunson.

I am really happy with the performance from Toppin at the end of the season and wonder if that’s a direction we should be headed.

It’s too much money to guarantee to three players after we resign RJ.

I would be rather try and get Kyrie, a core of Brunson, Randle and RJ at the money they would be getting. I’m not even sure they would get out of the first round.

We are in an interesting position. Could be why Rose and company are allowing these “All In” headlines to float around and stealing Brunson. Dismantle the mavs just enough to miss the playoffs and pickup another pick while having brunson under contract. That fear alone might force the mavs to work with the Knicks and do a sign and trade. This gives the Knicks more leverage.
