Alright I heard this on the regional sports report last night and I also heard that Knicks are after Rod Strickland and Vin Baker so here it is.
============================================================
To Chicago:
Charlie Ward
Lavor Postell
Future 1st rounder
Future 2nd Rounder

To New York:
Brad Miller
Ron Artest
AJ Guyton

============================================================
And here is the Portland/NY trade

To NY:
Rod Strickland
Eric Barkley

To Portland:
Othella Harrington
Travis Knight
and Cash
============================================================
And since Strickland HATES Mark Jackson and that there is no way he'll come wit Mark Jackson on the team and Knicks want Baker than here we go.

To NY:
Vin Baker

To Portland:
Mark Jackson
Luc Longley
============================================================
That leaves us with

PG- Strickland, Barkley, Guyton
SG- Houston, Artest, Rice
SF- Sprewell, Weatherspoon, Wright
PF- Thomas, Baker
C- Camby, Miller

I don't think we should go after Baker. His contract runs till 2006 and I've read at bskball.com that he looks bigger than ever. I like the Bulls trade since the Knicks desperately needs a center. Perhaps we should try get Jamal Crawford in that trade, his value has diminished since his season-ending injury but I believe he has the potential to be a great player in the future. He's cheap salary-wise so it'd be worth the risk.

I read that when playing pickup with Jordan, Crawford and Jordan were unstoppable while playing on the same team. Crawford was hitting everything from the outside. I think it would be tough to pry him away from the Bulls. He is a big part of their future.

I also agree with VG. Baker was reportedly way overweight. I don't know what his problem is, but we already have a high paid player with a fragile psyche in Allan Houston. No need for another. I think Kurt Thomas can be a solid PF for the Knicks next year.

I heard that chicago deal awhile ago and why it does give us a lot more talent and trade bait, we still have a messed up rotation and we are even weaker at the point. I really like the idea of getting Strickland if we don't have to give up to much. As far as i'm concerned, all we need to do is sign Strickland for the medical exception($3.1M) that we get from Longley's retirement.

So here's what i think we should do.

Trade Ward, a re-signed Postell, and two future picks for Miller, Artest, and Guyton.

Sign Rod Strickland for the $3.1M medical exception.

Trade Ron Artest and a throw-in to toronto for Keon Clark. I heard they are interested in Artest and Clark just may be on the block after they re-signed all their biy guys, added Hakeem, and drafted Bradley.

C Marcus Camby, Keon Clark.
PF Kurt Thomas, Clarence Weatherspoon, Othella Harrington.
SF Latrell Sprewell, Glen Rice, Larry Johnson.
SG Allan Houston.
PG Mark Jackson, Rod Strickland, AJ Guyton.
IR Travis Knight, Micheal Wright, Doug Overton.

We could also try to trade Knight or Harrington for a first round pick. With this roster, we would be in very good shape.

I think the best thing to do is to not overreact and make a dumb deal just because we want to make A deal...I think Strickland for Jax would be smart, but I dont want to give Strick a long contract....3 years with an option on the 4th would be nice

By no circumstances do i want to trade Postell, that kid is a baller, he is the next Sprewell and I think he'll play a big role in the future.....

Spare me the Baker deals, please....especially for Longley, we've waited so long for that medical exception to come through and now we are going to trade it for the cap killer himself (who just went under the knife might I add)

I think we should make a play for Chicago's Brad Miller, I think he could really help us.

Chicogo seems to be one of the only teams willing to trade with the knicks, at least thats the way I see it. They have enough cap room to take one of our underachieving, overpaid players, and actually improve. I too like Brad Miller, but I think a better move would be to get Marcus Fizer in here. I don't know if that would be possible though, seeing as they traded away an all-star talent to open up the power forward position for him.

Lets keep it reasonable, the Bulls are not going to give us Fizer.....for anyone! they are very hgh on that kid.....Ron Artest, however, might be available, even though he doesnt answer any of our needs and would probably rot on the bench....is Brad Miller even available? Jax for Strick is my battlecry

I wouldn't mind that. I wonder if Layden and co. have the guts to admit that they made a mistake in trading for Jax by shipping him for Rod.

Is there any question that that was a bad trade? is there a shadow of a doubt that it crashed and burned as soon as we realized "hey! this guy STILL cant play D"

Leave Fat Baker in Seattle. Luc is retired we can't trade him! Why trade Postell he's a good young player who isn't afraid to d-up. Othella is a nice fella. I like Artest but we don't need him we have Rice. LJ and Spoon should play some 3. Besides they r that size. I'm not a big Brad Miller fan. We can do better. Hot Rod would be a nice addition.

Hot Rod would be a nice addition.

Everytime someone says Hot Rod, I feel a panic briefly, then I remember we are talking about Rod Strickland and not John "Hot Rod" Williams....

Alot of trade talk going on here... but does anyone actually think any of these trades will go down? To begin with why would portland want mark jackson or ward? Both are more expensive than strickland let alone inferior players.

The word is that Rod want's to play on the East coast. Since he is a free agent, a sign and trade would benifit both Rod ($ wise) and Portland (by getting a quality backup - a thing they need).

Listen, first off, I never said we were getting Fizer, I just said it would be nice if the Knicks could broker a deal, and don't kid yourself, he isn't "untouchable". Secondly, don't you think Hot-Rod would get himself into a whole world of trouble in NYC.

aiight listen. trades with a crappy team for crappy players does not make the knicks better. also, trading jackson for strickland is worthless, because both suck. strickland is over rated. why do you think the wizards got rid of him? also, they need a center... but sending over bad players for first and second round draft picks in addition with lavor postell is a dumb move. if they can get dale davis for giving portland a reasonable trade, it'd be good... but if they can get rasheed wallace, the knicks should be willing to part with even SPREWELL. but it should be with jackson and thomas with a second round, and maybe even a first round. just imagine camby, wallace, rice, houston, and a sprewell at point

Why in the world would portland trade wallace for spree or for thomas + jackson? They already have damon at 1, derek at 2. It makes no sense... don't get me wrong i would love that trade but lets try to be somewhat realistic in these trade proposals

Yes I think Wallace is untouchable, Portland has a new coach (Maurice Cheeks) so they'd like to see how they go with him before they'd make any blockbuster trades.
