There is no way I risk a long term contract on this dude. And I hell to the no ain’t giving a max deal either. Maybe he shows up in shape next year, maybe he even acts like he gives a **** in a contract year. I don’t risk it, he needs one year prove it from here. Any team that hangs it out for Harden is going to get burned

Same situation with Kyrie... as an owner, I don't know if I could tolerate more than 1-2 year deals.

He doesn't look well liked by the rest of the team, and he looks perpetually like he's mailing it in these days. Sixers should have dealt Simmons for the Kings package or even the blazers one.

Harden is going to force himself out of the league by sticking with this direction. Who is going to want to ever play with him if he’s like that? This is 3 teams in less than 2 years now.

Kyrie should be signed to a incentive laden contract. The more you play, the more you stat up, the more you get paid. Wanna take time off? OK. Not gonna take the money.
ORGANIZATIONALLY if that don't jive with the coach or players, then you take a pass. Kyrie can play some high level ball.
Harden? Not sure whats up with him. He seems to get into shape when motivated and can do so quickly. He looked pudgy with nets. Three weeks later in Philly he looked and played great. THen he tails off.
He forgot to to opt in to his deal for one more season? From what I read that was part of the trade agreement and he did not do that.

We are learning the aging starphuch is not a pretty one always. Kawhi Leonard was signed after he tore his ACL but he a funny duck to begin with. Thats on Clippers anyway you look at it.
Lakers have a chip with this group regardless of what happens after. We forget that sometimes.

As for Philly, Morey knew what he was getting into. Embiid is Top 3 MVP and he is out. Puts defense on Harden and he is but one man clearly having lost a bit.

Bunch of prima donnas who have won nothing. Only exception is KD who had to sign with GSW

Harden has to get much more serious about his conditioning. He probably trains at an NBA minimum level, but at age 32, he needs to get on the Kobe Bryant level of commitment. If he did that, i think he returns to about 95% of what he was. The problem is that if you have never trained at that level before, it would be hard to just start now at age 32. There is no way I would give him that $270 million 5-year extension. If I were Philly I would either tell him to opt in and then prove to us next season that he is still a max player or offer him something like $35 million a year for 5 years, which is still alot and a possible overpay, but it at least would not be a contract that dooms the franchise. Harden still is solid as a PG, and if you have him, Joel, Maxey, Harris, and a couple of better shooters, Philly still would be in contention.
