Can’t play these guys so many minutes. His legs are tired and his shots off.Reddish was fine could’ve played 5-7 minutes more. Coach has been doing Tgis every club he’s on. He’s gotta follow what other good coaches do MANAGE your players minutes better
Another 16 point lead blown.

Thibs doesn't do minutes management, he really doesn't!

I feel embarrassed I ever used to defend him- everything his critics said over the years were 100% correct- no minutes management, overplaying players to injury and destruction, beyond moronically stubborn, refusal to make adjustments, completely uninventive, completely old fashioned, zero offensive creativity, abrasive to the point of alienating players.

So he played RJ in a game that was clearly over and RJ got hurt.

Then he returns from his injury and plays 44min?

Thibs is trying to win and still lose. Vs Sit or reduce RJ mins and give those mins to cam and others.

Thibs is confirming what I’ve said since his hire. I think last year made us all forget who thibs is. He’s better at coaching a veteran team filled with vets and a few rookies.

Thibs hire is on the FO not on thibs. Can’t expect an old dog to do new tricks. This is on the FO to fix. Thibs has made slight adjustments by playing rooks but at the expense of Covid protocol or injuries. So how much has thibs adjusted? To me not much. But that’s who thibs is. Don’t like him don’t hire him.

Since February
We’ve had double digit lead in 10 games and lost 9 of them.
The season could’ve been different but now to late.
Better to lose ever game from here on in. 6,5 games out of 10 seed w 19 to go.

I really don’t understand the minutes allocation Thibs is using. I’d really like some insight - just as a fan - just so I don’t have to sit here thinking it is shortsighted and stupid.

Thing is, if they were winning, it was fubar. Now that they are on a 7 game losing streak, it just seems lazy and misguided. If it’s a tank, stop burning out Barrett and Randle. If it’s not a tank, stop burning out Barrett and Randle. Game theory implies Thibs is just running these guys into the ground.

I have a hard time trying to understand Thibs on this.

Is Thibs old school, and thinks guys can go long on minutes?

Does he trust certain players?

Does he think players can play through their struggles, get over the hump by soldiering on?

Does he view his allocation of playing time as a reward for players doing well in practice?

RJ averaging 33 minutes a game this year. Plays a couple of 40 minute games and suddenly the world is going mad?

I guess there is nothing left to do but complain about anything?

RJ is turning into the best player on the team. However, he does need to greatly improve his efficiency. Right now he is a guy that scores a lot because he takes a lot of shots. To really become a superstar, he needs to get his FG% up to around 46%, his 3pt fg% around 38%, and his free throws to 73%. Even these are not great percentages, but I don’t think RJ is ever going to shoot much better than this. If he can at least stay at these percentages (I realize he shot 40% from 3 last year, but he was on a roller coaster ride with his shooting all year and his 3pt % went up because he stopped shooting off the dribble 3s), and hover around 6 rebounds and 6 assist, with the 23-24 points he will get you, then we will have an Allstar on the wing.

Don’t know about everybody else, but my issue is thibs plays guys heavy minutes when the games are out of reach or a blowout. Then he plays RJ 35 to 40 mins after coming off of injured reserve. After playing him for too long when the game was over, which is when he got injured. Plays rose extra minutes in the playoffs, even though he never played that many mins per game all season. Then don’t let me start on his rotation.

All legit reasons for fans to complain.

Thibbs should go to a larger rotation but I had no problem with RJ’s minutes in the Suns game because once Randle got ejected, the team needed RJ on the court.

44 minutes shooting 23% makes you wonder if the kid just needs a breather, no?

or maybe someone else could be more efficient.

If we are not careful, we're going to turn RJ into Kevin Knox.

Rj has a bad game. Indictment for a career?
He is doing that “developing young player thing”. or is that beyond impatience of fans?

Winnable game and Thibs wanted his young stud to pull it out. He was tired. He was double teamed. chaulk it for learning. Move on.

I absolutely love R.J. Barrett.

But please enough with your mocking of Knicks fans for "impatience".

We've been waiting for an NY Championship since dating back to 1972-1973 but yet here you are preaching "patience" to our fan base?

Impatience is exactly what got us the last 20 years and now has us in our current quagmire with Randle locked into maybe the worst long term contract in the nba and Fournier not far behind

Thibs is from the Riley/Van Gundy tree. 8 man rotations until the very end

Do you really believe RJ will be a star? I don't think he is a talented enough offensive player to make that step. His scoring numbers are more a product of the front office and coaches forcing the issue. Lots of NBA players can get 20 points if the coaches allowed them to shoot as much as they want.

Its not all about you. Briggs starts a post about a bad game.
High Horse? You post about not watching the game because of Evan?
Im rooting for him, who your rooting for? some made up “change” that you think has to be better than that?

Every season and every roster has no bearing on the past. We have not won for decades becuase FO has not been. Patient with young players.

Kenny “Sky” walker has no relevance to the moment or the future.

As for my high horse, I read about every book on knicks and from its coaches. being a bit older, I lived thru much of which you speak. I laugh when fans say we need to hire oak to teach toughness. You can’t teach it BTW. We glorify te 90’s and forget the idiocy of some ejections by our tough era team.

When we ask Randle to be tough like that and he gets tossed, we call him mentally weak. So was mase and Starks. Oak was craftier.

You can with for a chip, or define your happiness anyway you want. You want winning. So do I. My high horse has room for accuracy and intolerance for bull****. Im not going to just spout how we need this or that as if its magic. I want it done right and not starphuch shortcuts. You do you, I’ll do my patience as I wish.

Preseason I don’t argue the concepts as I say “It will get sorted out on the court”. It has. Not a one of us predicted any of it but pudits called it at best we be .500 and we call that hate.

Patince is: “Keeping it real”. Your childish rah rah’s earlier in the season about “if we win, and ohters lose we in XX spot, keep it going”………all rooted to the 60 win thing you had was yours. Now cause you look stupid you want to piss on the rest of us and tell us you don’t watch a game but got a lot to say? Im patient because I watched the game, not the result.

Im gonna mount up on my high horse, get my beach chair and read chris herrings “Blood in the garden”, recent book release. Funny, I read all PHils books, Riley’s book,, etc. I don’t pretend I know what they are thinking, I am reading it.

I read 20 pages thus far and learned about 10 things I never knew before about that era. On the high horse, we got knowledge. Not rants about Evan Fornier ruining your life.

May you be blessed with many grand children from your precious daughter one day and a boy named “Evan”. If your a real dad, you’ll say nothing…..LOL. Relax francis, this is suppose to be fun!!!

He is 21, solid build and improves monthly over each part of 3 seasons. I don’t do predictions and what FO should do. Im hopeful.

Barrett 44 min. Missed 20 shots
