Last season was great. Thibs put the team in order to the maximum and achieved a completely unexpected score in the regular season. Randle finally made a breakthrough and became a serious player and eventually signed a contract he absolutely deserved. RJ has shown that he is not a bust after all, but that he is a player who can be counted on very seriously. Rose has found a new youth in the role of the 6th player. Toppin showed in the second part of the season that he too can be useful to the team. In addition, we had room on the cap...considering the moves that Rose was making until that moment, it seemed that we had everything set up to strengthen the position in the upper part of the Eastern Conference, BUT...

I was not the most enthusiastic about the draft, although it went well. We got the players that Thibs wanted, and we avoided the accumulation of rookies that wouldn't have gotten a chance anyway, and we also got certain future assets. But already in the free agency it went wrong...most of the caps was eaten by Fournier with his incomprehensible contract. I have nothing against him at 10M / per year because he can be a useful player, but he got a contract like the one you give to an above-average starter, which he is not. Kemba is also ok on a contract like this, but what we needed was a “playmaker”, "floor general" and not another “scoring” PG.

The score is not nearly as good as last season, but as I wrote, it's no surprise to me because the other teams in the east have stepped up, and we haven't...and that's where we get to the point where things get even weirder. We bring Reddish in a trade that seems “steal” to us, but it turns out Thibs doesn’t want him at all and doesn’t plan to put him in rotation. Isn't that a bit too much of a break in communication between FO and the coach?

And the trade deadline is approaching when we are sure that something will be done. Randle is not happy here, coach does not want Reddish, Mitch's contract expires at the end of the season, we are missing PG...FO will do something for sure. Portland has a sale, Sacramento traded Haliburton at the end, a huge number of trades happens...but we do absolutely nothing. Of course I don’t want to say that Rose didn’t even try to do anything, but the fact is that nothing worked.

Deadline is over and we still don't have PG, I don't believe Thibs has changed his mind about Reddish, Randle is playing better again, but I don't believe "everything is fine now", Mitch is playing well, but he is UFA at the end of the season...and we don't know if we are chasing the playoffs or a better position in the draft...

This is mine too. We would be about a .500 team with a healthy Rose. We would be solid if Kemba was Kemba for more than 1 week this season. We need to add a PG this summer, regroup and try again. I’m sure the front office knows this.

We gave a lot of credit to the Front Office after making things happen, but realistically we were all disappointed that our free agency spending re-upped our existing role players at MLE level contracts.

So BingBong is now PingPong. I’m already looking more closely at the mock drafts. Sadly. I don’t think winning the lottery would solve this team. Who knows, maybe they will right the ship in the offseason. Or at least design a few offensive sets. Or a play for Mitch Robinson.

There are no more 2 or 1 player drafts. I don’t think it matters where we pick we will whiff

If you want to fix this team and have a team at least competitive next season draft Kennedy Chandler and sign a vet like Tyus Jones or Ricky Rubio to start/mentor

So far we have 2 players that fit thibs offensive system. And one player we just traded for. Cam and RJ and sometimes Randle. Because Randle becomes TO prone when given too much offensive room to create. We don’t have offensive creativity on the roster or as a coach.

No wonder our offense looks like shet. The FO needs to understand who thibs is and build around him. Or find a coach and understand what type of players excel under that coaches system. The FO and Thibs are clearly on different pages which is causing the players to look bad.

Either hire an offensive coach that Thibs respects or move on from Thibs please. Minnesota is doing quite fine in the post thibs era. I’m sure we will be fine without thibs as well. But either get him some help (coaching staff or better players that fit) or get thibs outta here.

That’s my rant on thibs. Next will be my rant on why we need to play certain players heavy mins.

Yeah, that's right. Melo made sure Linny wasn't 98.7% for the playoffs. And Melo negotiated that Houston contract. And made sure Linny ended up being a salary dump by the Lakers because Kobe didn't make him any better.

Poor Jeremy. GMAFB already. A crying two week wonder who never amounted to anything but journeyman with a nice paycheck. And a ring for sitting the bench in Toronto.

Shoulda traded Randle last summer. Shoulda kept Frank on a cheap 1 year deal instead of getting locked into Fournier for 4 years $80 million. Shoulda never resigned Rose. Burks was an ok resign but sucks now that he’s playing out of position

I wouldn’t say it was horrible. FO at least tried to fill a gap on offense. They recognized thibs needs help on offense. Right approach but terrible results. Can’t fault them for trying.

Keeping Frank instead of paying Fournier 80 million. I’m worried we will do the same with Jalen Brunson. Pay him 20mil or just move deuce to the starting unit. After watching Jalen play and seeing what we need, im not sure Jalen will move the needle that much on wins and loses for this team.

But forget Frank we should’ve paid bullock to stay. I rather have him than Fournier. As good as he is on offense his defensive impact and hot and cold offense and lack of 4th quarter mins hurts the team. But no problem, just move EF to a 6th man role and buy out Kemba.

The Randle and Fournier contracts are killers. Only way to improve the next 2 years is to upgrade at pg and that means another potentially bad contract for a Brunson or Tyus Jones or trading for Dinwiddie or Brogdon. Yes it’s doubling down on bad but we lost all flex last offseason celebrating a playoff appearance
