Former Natomas High School basketball standout Robert Rothbart announced Wednesday he will not attend Indiana University and instead will play professionally in Europe. The 7-foot-1, 230-pound center averaged 21 points and led the state with 15 rebounds a game as a senior last season." Sacramento Bee.

I'm talking about YOUNG guys(in high school) who have ability who really aren't college material, but need time to develop and mature. Being away from home with a lil money in their pockets in Europe just might be the trick to grow some of our high schoolers up and prepare them for life the NBA.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

no playa, now that would be too fundamentaly sound would'nt it?
you have to admit it's alot better for the development of his game than just going straight into the league. not to mention the fact that he'll also get paid at the same time.

why should he have to go to Europe?

I've always said leave these Euro guys alone. Develop USA talent.

He probaly going for a few reasons, but I would think he would go and work on his game and practice playing a notch above the college game by playing overseas. The NFL has NFL Europe and if you are good enough the NFL signs you up why not the NBA.

i don't think he's a "euro" but i think he's only going there to refine his game. don't see the harm in that. there's many players that pretty much rely on there fundamentals rather than there athletisism, or height. not take anything from home(USA), but too many players lack knowledge on how to play the game to win, not just to look pretty.

No he's not Euro, he's from Cali I think. I wonder if stern would accept that as an alternative instead of allowing young guys in the nba from highschool who arent "NBA READY" yet.

if your drafted and go play in Europe the NBA still owns your rights. When Dowhitt is done in Europe the Lakers still have his rights.

NBA needs to build a minor league system just like baseball- they could eliminate the farce that is the injured list- a place where injured stars can go and rehab for a game or two and where projects like Sundov could see the competitive light of day.

How can a player like Sundov ever deveolop if he never plays real comptetitive ball- who knows- the 7'2" stiff might become something if he regularly went up against other players.

they do, its called the summer leagues.

The problem is there is no fan base, so its a money losing prospect and NBA teams dont need it, only the players do.

Most people would rather watch a local HS team than an NBA minor league team. I know I would.
