Derrick Rose was like the 2014 run. Other than 2014 we were better. An older vet propped up the entire team past what the reality was. Thibs got coach of year. But reality is Derrick Rose gave us an unsustainable short term pop. I believed it too as I drank the cool aid so not throwing anyone under the bridge. But everything we did off-season was based on we that run. That Derrick Rose and kemba Walker could each play 60-65 games healthy. ThT Fournier wouod give us a needed fourth jettison
But the reality is every single move was a bust. The house was built needing Derrick Rose 2020 and it’s not getting that. All the vets like 2014 is busting
Noel -bust
Burks- bust
Fournier - bust
Rose— bust
Walker— bust
Randle —for the most part bust
Draft picks — at this point just unknown fair decent some possibilities

Expectations really mess with everyone. This team is still in a way better spot than 2 years ago with a surplus of youth and picks. This entire board is too emotional. Stay the course and have patience. Improvement and isn’t always linear we seem to forget. Just because you don’t get incrementally better each year doesn’t mean you’re not moving in the right direction. Trade Randle, fire thibs, fire the FO. Knicks fans want a winner but can’t just trust it’s a process with ups and downs.

The assumption is if one situation is a bust there was a better alternative. Open concept.
ALwys a better coach, draft pick, player etc in hindsight.

I'm trying my best to be optimistic, but I'm starting to look at PERRY who has constructed most of these signings and (minor trades) as the culprit.

Why do we always have to keep somebody from the previous dysfunctional FO, phil had to hang on to mills, and now leon hung on to Perry, a guy who has had more losing season than any GM in the NBA.

He Didn't receive a single interview from any team in the NBA for the GM or president Positions

None of us know much about the decision making process. How do you know so much about what Perry is doing?

I know you really judge things strongly from game to game. Just remember the Cam deal wont be able to judge until next year. That much was known at the time of the trade. You have to be patient before making a final judgment on it.

Perry was assistant in Detroit that won a title. Was assistant GM in Orlando an for a brief spell in Sac. Very brief. I mentioned a podcast today that might help to understand how things work.
Orlando was not god awful in his time there.
But you don’t understand what GM’s do. What owner involvement factors in and who takes cred/blame for team moves. Build your knowledge base not for anything but its interesting stuff to follow.

Hate to be the optimist here but I'm sure the FO knows how desperately we need a PG as last season's run was mostly due to Rose leading us back. If no moves are made the Knicks can always overpay a little to unload some contracts or in a trade to land Brunson or some reasonable type of PG. In the past this was the Knicks repeated mistake - but back then we didn't stockpile extra picks so it wouldn't be the same damage if we did overpay a bit. Right now they are probably playing conservatively to see if anyone looking to make a playoff run will take on Burks (without being compensated). He's a solid vet. Fournier would probably require a package deal or a pick to unload. I'm all for keeping Fournier right now and just moving him to the 2nd unit where the pressure's off him. So in reality we can likely move Burks and we could attach a pick to get rid of Kemba in the right scenario.

So the sky isn't falling - let's see what happens this summer. If they come back opening night and we still are starting Kemba or Burks - then the sky has already fallen.

thi sis in the blow tf up category--- i approve... first i wanna see Dolan self immolate on Broadway

last years run was fun... a .500 team made an improbable run.... but it wasnt sustainable... multiple players playing above career averages... Rose...

know we're basically a just below .500 team

Your rant is wholly illiterate so there's little that anyone can intelligently respond to on that account. However if you are evaluating this season's players thus far your evaluation is a bust.

Given: this season's meltdown

Noel - hampered by injuries is an unnecessary extravagance for this team. He has value for a contender needing a second unit, high quality defensive center.

Burks - he is not a starting PG - this has hurt his statistical profile. A utility guard whose value is primarily in the second unit. Given the Knicks glut of younger talent waiting in line for minutes he is tradable and has value.

Fournier - a second-tier NBA shooter who belongs in the second unit. The dysfunction of the starting unit obfuscates his true value.

Rose - key to the second unit. Injured - not a bust.

Walker - a geriatric patient whose agent schmoozed an undeserved, toxic contract out of the Knicks FO to give the Knicks free agent street cred. The FO still thinks free agent street cred has value in a system in which "free" agency represents delusional players who think that golden handcuffs are a rip off (see: Dennis Schroder).

Randle - woke up and fell on his head. Not a bust. Not a Point Forward. Not a leader or even a basketball consultant. A Bipolar talent who either shines or doesn't on any given night. He needs to be on a team that doesn't depend on his best self every night. The Knicks do and its a problem because they don't have the resources to add above him to make him a viable keeper.

The knicks haven't made a blockbuster trade since PERRY WAS HIRED, haven't signed a Major FA, Haven't over paid for anyone, and haven't made a significant move other than signing Randle and Fournier (2nd tier players).

Last season is looking like a total mirage, and we're back to being bottom dwellers, and our draft picks are totally avg or below, with the exception of RJ (which was a 4 player draft).

How many Orlando Magic players have we signed?

Not really — signing older injury prone players is a consideration in that signing right? So if they can’t play — that’s not excuse
Burcks ’s is a bust this year Fournier has been ok. No other bs excuses needed. We completely suck without Rose that’s the truth.

Yeah it’s so true. And I don’t blame anyone because I thought we’d be good too. I didn’t love Fournier but I was content it would be a Bullock upgrade. But the reality is everything we had success with and subsequent moves after season was based on Derrick rose impact. It was unknowingly unsustainable success very much like 2014

I picked the Knicks for 38 wins. I thought that the Knicks had simply killed the chemistry of an up-and-coming team. Bullock and Ntilikina should have been resigned and Kemba should never have been signed at all. I never anticipated Randle's improbable meltdown.

And I had a bad vibe about Thibs. His treatment of Ntilikina in the playoffs was petty and mean-spirited.

That said, every FO is paid to take calculated risks and they are constrained in many crazy ways. It ain't easy or foolproof.

Notice that nobody asks you questions. So when you ask yourself something you too should be suspect.

How many Magic players?

1. Elf played very well for ORlando. Was all NBA rookie 1st team. Got better every year. He was bought here to be 3rd string back. He made 4mil with us last year. Get over it.
2. Mario. Here one year with Fiz. It was a bad year, then he was gone.
3. EF.

Perry has been associated with us for how many years? 5. Fournier was drafted by Denver and played there two years before going to ORL. As Assistant GM he was part of the FO that drafted Elf and Mario. Elf went 10th, Mario went 5th.
Can you tell me who in that organization had final say? The assistant GM? The GM, or team president?
That we took a one year flyer on Mario was awful as a bench player? Or you just have a hard on for Perry and need him as your new blameboy?

You believe in “Curses”? how does that even work. You really believe that the 2014 team was sustainable?
Rashweed, KMart, Kurt, Camby and Kidd? All contributed until they broke, was gasping and retired by seasons end. Pablo was 36!!!! Then some voodoo curse was cast on them?

Like I posted before. Derrick Rose trade was curse
