NY is one of the biggest markets in the league and have one of the best fan bases around but we some how either draft, trade for or acquire some of the worse players in the league. They always seem to have deficiencies in shooting, defense, rebounding, ball handling, or simply can't move for their postion, and sometimes a complete head case.

I know there will always be mises on evaluation but on balance we have been terrible since Ewing. We have been through a bunch of coaches to try to turn the ship but without players coaching doesn't matter. There is no reason we should be this bad for so long. It's time to clean house in the front office ( yes Alan Houston too ) and get some qualified people to make these decisions. Being a good player doesn't make you qualified to be a good Front office person.

Since Rose has taken over we have had one successful season and one bad season. Let’s see what happens year 3. We need a pg, we do have a good young core of players

What is your evaluation of how the FO has done since they have taken over?

Let's start there. You've already landed on them needing to "clean house" which I think it just about the laziest starting point you can go off of.

Knicks have a winning record since this front office took over for their first full season.

They paid Randle after all-star season but this is very manageable contract.
Little cheap gamble for Kemba didn't work but who cares for the pennies.
Fournier looks exactly as advertised so no luck there but no loss also.
Pretty good promising group of young players, a bunch of picks and good cap situation.
Reasonable vets. Rose injury which was expected.
What else you want from management after just 2 years of work?
Work is just started. The roster is still pretty much fluid.

Let’s give them till after the deadline and after a major trade before we really start judging.

But quick assessment

Signings
Randle extension: C - unless he locks in and plays with passion this contract will be a disaster
Burks: B+ - good value for a utility bench guard that plays multiple positions
Noel extension: C (first year A) - no reason giving an often injured center 10MM a year
Fournier: D - he’s already unmovable without attaching compensation, we will be able to move him to a small market team at some point
Kemba: C- it was worth a shot but two years and no production for our biggest weakness has killed the season
Rose: B- he’s value is highly understated, hopefully he comes back and is healthy, but he’s the glue

Trades
Rose - A
Reddish - C-

Drafting
Grimes - A
IQ - B+
Obi - C+ / B-

Coaching
Thibs - B+

This offseason was probably as bad as any team in the league, so right now have to give them an incomplete. But it’s trending the wrong way for sure

I agree. Last season’s overachievement has people really fired up about this season. Overall this front office has things set up nicely. Just need to stay flexible and execute where possible.

I differ on a few of the grades IQ is a B, This is a C+, Reddish is TBD, last summers FA is a Big Old F

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

Cch, you should have paid attention to the over/under coming out of Vegas this summer (42 wins I think). That should have been a clue for us all to tamper down expectations.
