I posted in another thread a lineup of Myles Turner, Randle, Barrett, Grimes, and Jalen Brunson wouldn’t solve everything but would solve a lot. Play faster, put Randle closer to the basket, better defense too as you upgrade defensively at 3 positions.
I've been listening to the hype on Brunson. So I did a little digging into Brunson vs Deuce. Simply because Brunson is demanding 20 mil and Deuce is demanding playing time and lunch. Both are completely different.
Brunson is a young floor general. Something we've been missing for years. Problem since Mark Jackson, was the last time we had a young floor general. Jason Kidd provided some insight on having a floor general and how it really impacts the team, but he was older and past his prime. But still provided some impact.
Deuce strengths are Brunsons weaknesses. Not just my opinion, you can read draftnet.com....But we all know his on ball defense is his strength. I think fans don't realize how important this is to have a first line defender with a strength in this area. This is what i liked about Elf. Gary Payton was the ultimate on ball defender. But that really helps the entire team on defense. His weakness is Brunsons strengths. But the key thing I read is Deuce is a fast learning and a winner. And he has the potential to grow and improve his weaknesses, similar to RJ Barrett's off season improvement mentality.
Just something to think about. I like both for different reasons. But I cringe a little when thinking about giving him 20 mil, and trying to build a team around that, in a salary cap system. I'm not knowledgeable about the finances, but is it even possible to pay Brunson 20mil, resign RJ and continue to pay Randle and EF. Oh and Mitch is also due. I do know that finding cheaper talent that may not be where he's needs to be right now, but just on defense alone, can improve your team, is something to think about. Rokas might be a better option actually and also cheaper than Brunson.
Eitherway we go, it's an improvement over our current PG situation.
