Curry. The Knicks need a C to advance in the playoffs.

I wouldn't trade Sweetney or Ariza for either.

Obviously, we can't trade Sweetney or Ariza. Zeke's already turned down Sweetney for Curry. But the trade value for both is down.

Kurt Thomas would have to be the pawn. One reported scenario had the Pacers, Wolves and Knicks hooking up in a three-way deal in which Thomas winds up in Minnesota and Wally Szczerbiak in Indiana.

Wow. Indy would have to be crazy to do something like that. Even if it leaves us weak upfront, I think we would have to make it if that trade was offered.

If we're unwilling to trade Marbury, Ariza, Crawford, or Sweetney, we probably can't get either of those players.

Artest is clearly the better overall player, but we need a C much more than we need a SF/SG.

Ron Artest is a special talent. Best defender in the league. You can get him for KT, you jump, and I'm a KT fan. I'd give up anyone on the team besides Marbs for Artest. He so good that you take the risk that he'll go nuts. Keep in mind, all he did was say something stupid. He didn't smack his girlfriend, get in a car when loaded, or get caught in a bar with a piece. He's a bit wacko, but he's not a bad guy. And anyone who takes offense that he's betraying his teammates should watch him play. Hustles more than anyone in the game. If I'm a player, I want him on my team instead of covering my *ss. I'm less convinced about Curry. Just not sure he'll turn out to be a major upgrade over Nazr.

I say go get Artest.....

I don't wanna lose KT though if the Knicks could get rid of Timmy.....Timmy is a bum.

Knicks can wait on Curry in the off season.

Getting Artest would be like Aguirre for Adrian Dantley.

We're not getting either, but I would take Curry first.

Depends on who we get rid of and if we get anyone else back....I would do a TT and Nazr for Artest and someone like Foster or Pollard.

I would also do TT and KT for Curry and Antonio.

Curry fills a need...sort of.....Artest doesn't fill a need and actually weakens our center position depending on if we can prey someone else away. It also clutters time for Ariza.

Curry is a better fit trade wise than Craw...

Yeah, I wouldn't give up any of those players for Curry, although I might give up Crawford or Ariza for Artest. I would have definitely given both of them up for Artest a few weeks ago before this latest incident.

I would see what PF/C I could get by offering TT and Nazy or Kurt. I think at some point between now and next year's trade deadline, Jamal Magloire will be available if we take back Jamal Mashburn's contract once NO accepts that they're paying players a lot just to be a lottery team in the west

Wow, just noticed NO is 0-5. There is a very good chance that they would go through with a trade like that.

That's what I was saying all summer. I think it can happen eventually.

Magloire might be traded, but we won't get him for TT & Kurt...it's just not going to happen...if they trade him, it will be for an expiring contract & a young talented player or high draft pick.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

You're missing the point about us taking back a player with 3 years of a huge contract who will probably never play a game again. What other team will take that back? Or do you think the Hornets won't mind spending $30 mil on a retired player while they're making the lottery?

ARTEST: KNICK DEAL WON'T HAPPEN

By MARC BERMAN

November 14, 2004 -- KNICK NOTES
INDIANAPOLIS - Embattled Pacer Ron Artest says Knicks president Isiah Thomas can try, but doubts he'll land him in a trade.

"It's not happening," Artest said before facing the Knicks last night at Conseco Fieldhouse. "I could see him trying just because of my value as player right now. A lot of that trade talk is other general managers trying to set up the Pacers and make them look bad, like we have a lot of controversy going on, so they can get me on their team. They're trying to get me out of Indiana. But it's not working."

The Queenbridge native, who played for Thomas in Indiana, held off praising him for turning around the Knicks. "I like Isiah as a person, pretty good coach, good player but he really didn't do anything with the Knicks yet," Artest said. "I can't really compliment him yet. But he's got some good players. Until you prove what you can do, that's when you get your respect."

The Knicks could have had Artest in the 1999 draft but took Frederic Weis. "There probably would've been a lot of headaches if they picked me but in the long run I would've helped them out," Artest said.

Artest played his first home game since being benched for two games by Rick Carlisle for requesting a leave of absence after feeling worn out from producing a rap album, Chapter III. Artest manages the group, Allure, made up of three female rappers from New York City. In the locker room before the game, he passed out a promotional placard of the three girls clad in mini-skirts.

Artest is not requesting a trade despite what he feels was an injustice. "I think my future is headed in the right direction," he said. "I got to make sure I do the right thing in my future. I like it here. Indiana is a good organization."

"I think the fans still want me here. I'm not smoking marijuana. I didn't get a DUI, didn't have a handgun on me."

Knicks have not decided whether to pursue 6-10 free agent PF Marcus Haislip, a former lottery pick selected 13th by Milwaukee two years ago. Following Eddie Robinson's failed physical, Thomas has considered making a run at the athletic big man. Haislip reached a settlement with Milwaukee 10 days ago because he was out of the rotation. Bucks GM Larry Harris said he can still help an NBA team. "He's got NBA athleticism, can run the floor, can hit the open 16-18 footer," Harris said. . . . Knicks plan to activate C Bruno Sundov.

I'd trade Crawford for Artest in a heart beat.
I'd also prob trade Sweets for Artest.

That's an improvement at least. This is the first time I heard that the Knicks were even considering him.

yeah seriously...it's about time. I rather sign someone like him who's young, athletic, runs the floor and blocks shots and no risk imvolved, then a e-rob, Baker or tracy murray. So many big men have comes out of no where and had a great career. Whether they were picked low, played in the cba or was on IR his entire career with another team. Then these guys go to another team and explode! Signing Haislip is sooo worth it!
