One thing we do know— we have weakness at 1. I don’t think Schroeder fit Boston n well but we have a need here.

Schroeder would’ve been a nice add but at what cost? This current FO makes trades that favor the Knicks. The FO of the past probably would’ve traded for Schroeder but at a cost that could hurt our future, I don’t know. But if a trade was available I believe we would’ve jumped all over it. PG has been a need for years and that’s well documented. I’m sure they know that.

Not sure why the knicks tend to make the pg need a after thought.

Watching Schroeder the last 2 season has made me a non believer in him, he is more of a bench player than a starter.

BRIGGS, you must not have had your coffee today.

Go back and get some and peruse this thread while thinking of what Jalen Brunson will be like next year.

If you're making a move for a PG, you either have to be looking for a long term piece you like better than IQ/McBride, OR you have to be able to package Kemba for a stop gap.

Eventually Rose and Kemba are coming back, and Schroeder is not the future. Boston's already passed on Kemba once.

I don't think it is a good idea to move a 1st rd pick for an expiring contract(unless it is last piece for championship run or player is extended as part of trade).
It would be nice to get someone like Shroeder for two 2nd rounders perhaps.

If we gave up a 1st and Shroeder walks in offseason that would be a failed trade for Knicks side.

Yep, and realistically, the Knicks would probably be one Boston's last choices for a trade partner if two second rounders was all it took.

We have Kemba, Deuce, Iq, Drose and apparently Burks. Thats one third of the roster.
Who goes in such a scenario? Shcroeder is free agent at years end BTW. HE a good fit here? If so, how do you see it?

Boston doesn't own his bird rights, so trading for him doesn't give you any advantage really. If you want him, sign him as a FA next offseason. He's not been good for the Celtics though, there's a reason why no one particularly wanted him this offseason

yeah this... and he kinda sucks. There is no reason to add a stop gap guy like this over developing the guys we have. That means IQ/McBride. Burks is simply a better basketball player than Schroder so while Alex has shortcomings at PG he makes up for them in other areas.

Ds defense better than Rose Walker. More durable. If we’re looking to make a run this year

What kind of run are you looking to make? This team is still looking at first round exit with Schroeder. Remember when you said in an earlier thread that team doesn't need to make rash moves and should prioritize the youth? I don't think Schroeder's upside is enough to budge from that mission.

That was when we were just some pathetic sub .500 team. Now we've broken even and have the heart of a champion!!!

I’d be okay will non sexier names such as Derrick white as our PG or someone like Brunson- but who is an unrestricted FA this summer and the mavs don’t have the space to resign him

One game against one player is what you're using to conclusively evaluate his defense?

He better not go back to Germany in the offseason. I was just there for a year during the pandemic. If Americans think lockdown restrictions are strict here they need to see Germany

Agree. We can go after him as a UFA in the offseason and/or Rubio

I thought Schroeder might’ve made more sense for trade
