For a while I thought I might have to eat crow on this statement, but maybe it was right afterall.

everyone WANTS to like McBride. You see a guy hustle like he does and that's just a guy you want to make it. Problem was he looked like what they call in MLB a quadruple A player. Too good for AAA but not good enough for the show. Man McBride's offense was so bad. Like worst than Frank bad.

Gleague #s were great and clearly so were practice (Thibs says this). They (FO & coaching staff) saw it and waited. They clearly knew they had a guy. McBride is 23 and we just signed him for 3 years after this one for about what it costs to pay a late lottery pick.

My god look at him... he's arrived. All he does it take quality shots, make smart moves be an utter menace on defense. This is how you build a champion. This is such a great story. Honestly IQ was prolly my favorite player to watch... McBride is and the way this whole team plays is really easing any pain there

you know who he reminds me of? I don't mean by his style of play, or positionally. I mean from the toughness and endurance and grit part? Anthony Mason. His no nonsense, get down to business, I'm gonna outwork you part. And while he wasn't a megastar, Mase in yo face made an ASG, 6MOY, All-Defense, and an All NBA team. I am not saying it is going to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if Deuce's career arc plays out similarly. I am not saying he'sthere yet, ot will be there, but the fact that I think it's possible with him is such a win over Layden, Isiah, Mills years

this is the blessing of all the injuries the team has weathered to date -- guys get opportunities. Doesn't always pan out, some guy blow their shot, some guys don't coe back... but when everyone gets healthy and supporting cast nails their opportunity, man, are we rolling deep come April, May, etc.

Deuce and JB as a back court is killing the game.

What DEUCE brings on defense, can’t be touched by d.mitch.

What DEUCE does as a ball spacer is different from d.Mitch who performs better on the ball.

Right now JB and Deuce are a great pair and hard to say which player is better when paired with JB. I’m just enjoying what we have and how we look fully healthy. Maybe we already have a championship team and these guys just need to improve as a team.

I love any 2 way player Nalod. Deuce is one of many. I haven’t watched DM enough to know his defensive side. On offense he’s a superstar and we have shown two small guards work as long as DM can guard the best guard or a SG. I trust deuce defense against bigger players with his football background. Maybe DM works with deuce as the backup. I’m just afraid to trade deuce for DM. DM is better offensively but what deuce brings all around is hard to replace. Tough call.

I like what we have now and afraid to make too many moves that could set us back. Burks and Bogs was supposed to be a steal and look how that ended up.

I rather have grimes and EV over burks and bogs right now. Maybe that changes during the playoffs. We’ll see

Let me be clear. If Cleveland wants a deuce for DM trade, I’m not turning that down. I also know they want the farm plus deuce. I would if I was them.

McBrides 2nd year in college he shot 40% from 3 and took a ton. He really had a monster year but size and skills kicked him to round 2. He’s still got the limitations listed in his scouting reports but he’s an NBA version of the impact player he was in college

He’s a volume impact guy. Nobody can stop this player or that, but find McBride big minutes and opposing players have bad shooting nights.

I can see McBride being the reason we play 7-8 in the playoffs

Bench is 35 minutes of McBride and 20 of Mitch. If we get Jules back then Josh comes off the bench

this

we all saw what he was capable of based off his G league numbers. It was just a matter of he can keep up to the speed of the NBA...which it looks like he's *slowly* adjusting too.

I think has progressed rapidly. He's played 2200 mins as an NBA player, about half were this season. he had played about 1000 mins after 2 seasons. For reference IQ had logged 3000 NBA mins after year 2.

Deuce did everything well on that last play. Perhaps his height not matching SGA was a contributing factor but he did not found him and played him tight.
"maybe we have a championship team"......Maybe. In the age of parity playoffs will have anomalies and make it more interesting.

It wasn't so much the last play I was talking about, or even just Deuce. Just not great shooting from all shooters not named Jalen the past 2 games.

Ehh, IMO it was one of his worst moments of the game. Did not disrupt his rhythm at all. That said, it takes a team effort to make it tough on a last second shot like that, like OKC did for Brunson by forcing a bad inbound pass.
