I was watching the Suns/Cavs game last night (Knicks fans and any fan of an EC team should be shuddering right now, LeBron was unstoppable in the 4th) and saw Steven Hunter, former DePaul player who never really did much in Orlando.

This year he is averaging 2 blocks a game in only 12 minutes, and for his career he averages a block a game. He is a 7 footer who isn't making much at all this year, I'd love to use part of the exception on him next year when he is an FA. Last night against a good Cleveland frontline he had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He could be the answer to the Knicks' defensive liabilities in the middle, and shouldn't be that expensive as he is playing behind Amare and Voskuhl, they have Lampe there who is cheaper, and they have to re-sign Joe Johnson after all the money they spent last year. I'd definitely look into him.

I actually wanted the Knicks to sign this guy when he was let free because I knew that center wasn't exactly our strongest position, and that was with all the Nazr and Baker hype. I think that we should've offered him a contract because we had nothing to lose and a lot to win if he became a good pickup. He should definitely be considered by us in the offseason because he could be a cheap pickup, and he is young. We'll see...

I still want Isiah to contact Haislip...

i would have even lower hopes for hunter than for haislip. i think if he develops like he hadn't his first two seasons, haislip could be a good energy player off the bench, able to play the 4 and 5, a bigger JYD. he wouldn't be a star by any means, but a useful sub. as for hunter, he's had chances on teams desperate for C's. he fouls much more than blocks. but that can still be valuable. he could also be a useful sub, bbut really only because it reads 7'0" next to his name.

Steven Hunter showed he could play in the summer league. Why did Orlando trade him? Cuz they have Cato and Battie.

I wouldn't mind picking him up.....he's definately on the list. He's a good athlete too.

seems like it changed in a big way - but maybe it's just phx's run and gun pg and their system that is a better fit. a good pg makes other players look great. and a great coach (utah) and a wonderful system makes awful players look solid (anderson, eisley)

If you see some real improvement then Im for it.Hunter showed flashes of Camby's game when he was in the zone, with Marbs and Crawford in the backcourt he could be effective.I still believe we should go after a big man with some bulk as well, but Hunter would make a good backup center if he has improved.
