they probably got some financial relieve

i.e a buyout for lets say 21mm over 3 and perhaps a deal where any salry he signs in the future would cap the knicks burden over an allotment?

i will say the last player we need is eddie robinson. we could use either a solid back up PG or size unless TT is getting traded.

Stephen A. Smith says the buyout is for 19 mil so the knicks have 5 mil to pursue whom ever.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

5 Mil? How do you get that #. Shandon stays on our cap...we are still over so we have the LLE and whats left of the Mid level.

no, we dont get an MLE

there are various ways to do this but the most likely is 3 years at 6.67mm on the cap and possibly relief if there is lux tax next year.

Sorry I meant , we saved 5 mil from Shandons 24 mil contract.

I still think the Knicks should have just held on to him for the remaining years. The Knicks still have to pay hgim so I don't understand the point of this. If Shandon can't take the 2 years , he'llmake his own decision and maybe take a pay cut to leave. But paying him almost his whole contract is pointless imo

it's called cutting your losses. would you rather have a guy on the bench that's unhappy and can disrupts the harmony of the team or would you rather just let him go (if you have the means) and get somebody/anybody else?

most people will choose to waive the player rather than have that black cloud surrounding the team.

this was the only course of action the knicks could've taken in this situation.

Both points are valid. We will see the impact of this move only after we find out who Isiah brings in to replace Shandon. Waiving him doesn't help as much since we have to pay him anyway. I am happy to see him go though.

All teams have at least one unhappy guy on the bench. It would be irrelevant if Shandon was unhappy on the bench for 2 years, but at least we'd have a nice expiring contract in 2 yrs. If Haislip can really help the team, then Sundov should have been waived to get him.

Isiah just spent some of that "capital".

Good luck Shandon.

He is a good dude and hope he sticks us for 40 points in the garden!

Knicks win of course.

He was not a demon, he did his best. Rockets signed him for that monster contract. We bought it with Glen Rice trade.

I hope he is happy. He got our money!

the man refused to go on the injured list- no? that's not helpful when you're the weakest player at your position and have several (Ariza, TT & Penny) players ahead of you.

He can be an effective player on a better team- we just didn't have enough talent to put up with his 20% shooting percentage. On another team where he'll play 12 minutes a night, I am sure he will do well.

Shandon used to hustle harder than he did last year. Remember the dunks? WHere did that intensity go? He slacked off IMO, and thus earned the "e" added to his name.

See ya, Shandone!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

The only way Eddie Robinson comes in is if TT is on the way out....I see no other way....why would Eddie put himself in the same position he was in on the Bulls? Makes no sense...the Knicks at least have a shot at being a winning team, There is no way Robinson comes to NY without and almost garauntee that he has a shot at the rotation, IMO....

As for Shandon...

See ya', wouldn't wanna be ya' (ok...maybe stealing money for a job couldn't do would be nice), I hope he goes to Miami....Shandon was at least a potentially good player in Utah...I guess with Shandon, the system made the player...not the other way around.

From Isola:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/story/251594p-215406c.html

...

Thomas has expressed interest in Robinson, whose contract was bought out by the Bulls last week. However, the emergence of rookie Trevor Ariza and Allan Houston's expected comeback - he should be available by December - make it unlikely that Robinson would be signed.

Instead, Thomas likely will activate center Bruno Sundov from the injured list next week to take Anderson's roster spot. Sundov can be activated after Saturday's game against Indiana.
