If they're smart, they won't own up to the pick.

From what I have seen, Iguodala is a tenacious player, he hustles, defends and boards, but I don't see that high offensive IQ you expect out of a swingman who is a lottery pick... Tonight I saw ariza nail two nice jumpers, get out on the break, play suffocating defense on Korver who moves well without the ball and is a big part of philly's 3 point shooting game, and he rebounds well, I think both players will be very good players, Iguodala IMO seems more like a defensive, rebounding role player, ariza IMO has the potential to be a whole lot more... Iguodala reminds me a lot of Aaron Mckee, if he can be that good then that is not bad, I think ariza skills will afford him the opportunit to be much more..

Iggy is nasty. Ariza is fluid as can be. Iggy was all over TT even posted him up. But he was no match for Ariza who easily blew past him a few time.

Stephon is right that Ariza should have been a lottery pick. I'd take him over Iguodala. (I wouldn't mind having both, though)

Iggy has impressed me a lot, but Trevor has really shown a lot of qualities that great players have. He has incredible court vision, he is a good defender at the age of 19, and the kid leaves it all on the floor. I think tkf said it perfectly, Iguodala kind of shows you that he can be a very good role player in that he plays good defense and does other things well, however, Ariza shows the potential to be a star in the league.

How about right now (not upside but right now) who is better: Ariza or TT? Despite his slump, TT has a better jumpshot, but I think Ariza beats him out in *all* other aspects of the game.

I think Iguodala can be more than just a good role player

actually the true comparison for knick fans sake is TT vs. Ariza

and I would say bluntly Ariza is the better player

hes a better defender, hes a better rebounder, hes a better passer, he tries harder, hes tougher i would love to see ariza move up and stay in the 30-32 minute range asap. i think he really helps the knicks team D and thats what they need to play to win games.
iggy is a good player, kind of similar to ariza, not much difference between the two. there is no question about it, we got a lottery pick player in ariza--seems to happen to a 2nd round plyer every year--fortunately we hit the jackpot for once.

I beat you to this topic by 1.5 minutes! We had similar analyses too of the TT vs Ariza comparison, although you went into more detail

I think he can too, I just don't think he will end up being more than that. Something tells me that he will never be "the guy" but I could be wrong

Ariza played like a starter tonight. The best part about it is that he's only gonna get better.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Im not voting on this one. Its one game. Iggy is man sized and looks ready to go. He gets to the line, and has a nice game.

Trev makes up for us not having a first rounder last year.

ok, I hear that.

I wonder if Iguoldala is a small SF or a strong SG.

Nalod like saying "Iguodala". Makes Nalod happy. Nalod thinks it would be cool to have a person named "Ariza Iguodala". Nalod thinks "Trevor Andre" sounds like some cheezy hairdresser name, or bad designer lable. Nalod got ideas and likes to share them.

Nalod was not trying to stand up the poll, Nalod just being uppity about it. Nalod like Martin.

Nalod going now.

Nalod. You a big Superman comics fan? I see a lot of bizarro references in your posts.

Anyways, Can everybody see now why I think Ariza reminds me of a young Scottie Pippen?

I'm pretty much blown away by Ariza. I was happy to have a tough kid with great athleticism that plays with no fear. Now it appears we may have that as well as a highly skilled player. At 19. Look at him now... whats he going to be like when he really learns the NBA game? When he's played every team a couple times, when he's used to seeing patterns, how individual players play? This kid is an impact player on both sides of the ball.

At 19.

Briggs is right... there is a 2nd rounder every year. Its about time we hit that pot. You said the key to turning this team around will be executing in the draft.

At this point the main thing with Ariza will be resigning him next year to avoid an Arenas or Boozer fiasco.
