Through 5 games, there are things that I like and things I don’t. I have a real issue with guys forcing shots. It’s infectious. Randle, Fournier, and Quickley are the biggest culprits. All can get hot and go on a tear. All of them may have the green light from Thibs (I don’t know) but I think guys like Burks and Barrett facilitate a bit more.
Randle is certainly tasked with being the primary in a bit of a heliocentric basketball model. When in doubt the ball goes through him. Fournier appears to be the second option though I would argue that role belongs to Kemba. Off the bench Rose is the primary but it seemed like Quicks has the green light from Thibs.
I do not mind these guys shooting, I just think they force a few too many shots rather than being patient and waiting for the right shot. It’s great that these guys can find those shots with 2 secs left on the shot clock, it’s different for me when there is 15 seconds. Not even a SSOL scenario. Just some mediocre shot selection.
Not saying we drop Fournier or Quickley or that we denote Randle, just saying they need to work on shot selection a little better.
I love love what Barrett is doing this season. I love love everything else about Randle other than his shot selection.
Fournier and Quickley need to simmer down a bit. Attack the paint.
Side thought on Quickley is that he looks like he packed on some muscle over the offseason. There was a floater he missed at the end of the game where I was think that he looked like he could have gone in for the layup/dunk though he would have drawn contact. I think he might be strong enough now to take that contact and finish. I kind of want to see him taking that contact and getting to the line. I think he might be stronger than he thinks and is settling for deep threes and floaters.
