You really when the schedules were made the last few years the Knicks were worthy of a high visible game?
ABC execs want good games. Knicks last played in 2018 and lost by 14pts.
They don't "Hate" knicks, they "love" ratings!!!!
The “good games” were getting sh t ratings
League was not too happy with Fizdales knicks getting blown out on National TV. We’re you?
Last year knicks had to earn their way back to respectable street. It was a second half of season push that was validated.
Trae Villian-esque performance I found very cool! The dude bought it in the Mecca. Some villains are wannabe but he took it to the replacement fans who ventured out from covid to newly opened MSG.
Did I hate Reggie miller for doing what he did? Sure. When he mixed it with Spike Lee it became cool in my book. I respected Reggie. Trae Young is just starting out now. Don’t know if he grows into this potential or not like Reggie did.
The lions play on thanksgiving every year and they’ve done it in 0-16 seasons. It was stupid to for the nba to keep the Knicks off Christmas and the tv networks deservedly lost money
Lions been doing thanksgiving since 1934. There are deep traditions. NBA on Christmas Day is not nearly the same. Also, traditionally NBA ratings don’t aggregate up until after football season ends. Its not about the lions as a draw, its just how its been and perhaps there are years where Lions suck and there is pressure where they Network wanted them off. But there are contracts to be upheld.
NBA puts its stars on TV for Christmas and ratings are drawn by those players and not “teams”. Football is not as star centric as NBA.
The knicks or any team does not have that level of tradition. MLK afternoon game is a knick thing that is upheld. Is it a TV event? Not sure.
Lions are playing Thanksgiving Thursday. Cowboys are playing Thanksgiving Thursday. Lions play the early game. Cowboys next.
NBA won’t put it a **** team on Christmas Day. They are star centric. They have the flexibility to change it up. If the knicks suck in the early game it ruins ratings for the lineup. True, knicks are a major draw around the country. All things being equal if Knicks are respectable they get the nod.
But don’t insult this forum with a blanket statement without research. People put on NFL games regardless of whose playing. NFL parity can make for more entertaining games. Knicks if not competitive and get blown out is a bad thing for ratings. Some people might tune in just to see knicks lose. Competitive games with interesting players matter. Randle is a draw. RJ could be.
