Staring to see a lot of people trying to put summer league into perspective reminding others not to put too much weight into a pre-pre-season competition made up of mostly scrubs.

But it isn't the competition that's the main reason or the fact they could be nervous, etc. to not read too much into it. It's more because it's only 5-6 games.

You can't read much into it for THAT reason alone, much less due to the competition.

For example, I'll remind you of RJ Barrett's first 5 games in 2020-2021 ... and his first eleven for that matter.

Meant nothing.

I'll remind you of how the Orlando Magic started last season.

Again, nothing.

Sometimes its not that they're rookies or playing against rookies. It's just sometimes players can randomly play goor or poorly for short spurts, just because its a small sample size.

Practically applied:

I could give a **** about IQ's shooting in Vegas.

Case in point... and I like TheKnicksWall...

https://theknickswall.com/knicks-summer-league-observations-volume-2-deuce-mcbride-quentin-grimes/

Then there’s Quentin Grimes, the three-year man out of Houston. To put it bluntly, he has underperformed in a major way. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s time to hit the panic button or anything of the sort. It’s only a few games of Summer League, and there have been plenty of neophytes who’ve struggled in Summer League and went on to became great players.

Still, Grimes, prized foremost for his perimeter prowess, hasn’t really been able to find the range from the outside. Across the opening three games of Summer League, he averaged just 7.7 points on 26.7% shooting in 34 minutes of action. Though Grimes somewhat bounced back in game number four with a respectable 6-for-10 shooting display and 15 points, it wasn’t enough to redeem what has been a wayward Summer League. Knicks faithful will need to be patient with Grimes as he searches for his rhythm against the world’s best.

Summer league means almost nothing. 3 years ago Knox looked like a young Shawn Kemp in the summer league.

It’s like all these idiots in the media inducting Justin Fields into Canton because he played well against 3rd stringers in a preseason game. He was trash when he faced the actual starters and he’s on his way to bustville but please celebrate while you stil can
