If you have not noticed, Mooch and Penny are the backups. No mooch, you only have Penny. Can't have penny in some match ups, he don't move.
Moochie is the 4th PG on the roster (after Steph getting 38 mpg at PG, Jamal getting 10, and Penny playing emergency PG minutes). You're right that MOochie is a backup PG, but he's just a backup who will get a bunch of DNPs and garbage minutes. No harm is done by putting him on the IR.

While Eddie Robinson's agent James Bryant claims the Knicks would like to meet with the free agent swing-man in Chicago next week, an aide to Isiah Thomas said that it's not expected to happen that soon. The Knicks first need to open a roster spot — and buying out Shandon Anderson's $24 million contract is their preference.

I'd like to land the 6'10" Haislip first. We are in much more need in the frontcourt at this point. The guy was a first round pick and he is young and atlethic, just exactly what we are looking for. Bring him first, then consider E-Rob.

As long as those guys wouldn't be playing in front of Sweetney and Ariza, I'd love to get both guys.

there's no way Haislip would be playing ahead of Sweetney...if anything, he'd take some minutes away from JYD or Baker.

Ariza is a lock to get his regular minutes.

No, no way that happens. Sweet will play more and more until he becomes the starting PF. I would bring Haislip here to play center because we do need more talented guys there. He may be a PF but he could play C for us. If he wants playing time, he would get a lot here at Center...

Same with Ariza. He has been so great so far that no one can keep him on the bench other than him. His minutes are guaranteed and we are talking about a guy that will probably become the starting SF once we can trade TT in his last year. Wilkens and Isiah know this so he will get his minutes.

Sweets will never take KT's spot as long as KT is not playing center. Until Kurt is traded, hurt, insulting Isiah in the media, or starting at the 5, Sweets comes off the bench. It's not even up for debate.

I don't mean necessarily this season, but in the near future. Kurt Thomas isn't likely to end his career as a Knick and we know that everyone in the Knicks organization see Sweetney as our starting PF for at least 10 years. If he keeps getting better like he has been he will definitely become that. When it happens? Who knows, but something we do know is that Wilkens will give all the minutes he can to Sweets and Ariza so they get everyday closer to reach their potential.
