Rose math should fit his new contract into his cap hold using his bird rights. Should have 7 mil in space. I think trading Knox for a second round pick creates another 6 mil. 13 mil per year plus the 5 mil room exception gives the Knicks plenty of options. You can still get someone legitimate if you move Knox. Still some interesting options here.

i think you have to keep Knox and hope he can become a serviceable 3pt shooter that doesn't resemble a sieve on defense. He has the form, he just needs a fire lit under him.

And unless there is a better PG out there, might want to sign Frank to a short term deal, see if he can realize any of his potential.

we have early bird rights on Rose, so we can technically go over the cap to sign another FA. Next summer Knox’s deal and the $6mil on the cap from Noah come off the books, so that is about $14.5 mil in cap room there. If we only sign one year deals for our remaining FA players we sign this summer, we should have about $18 mil in cap space next summer before we extend Randle and Robinson. If we can trade Burks at the deadline, we could free up $25-$27 mil maybe, so we still could be in play to sign a major FA in 2022 with a sign and trade.
Trust the Process

I was thinking the same about Frank. Not sure how Thibs feels.

I suspect Thibs likes him- he did give him some opportunistic times to play- like in the play offs against Trae- but saw him still as very raw last year- he is just 22.

Could he still develop into a Reggie Bullock type player? Yea, I think so. Can we give him something like a two year, $3m per, to on the 2nd?

Have to think there’s something else still to drop. DeRozan, Schroder, Reggie Jackson, Nunn, Oladipo, Oubre and Hart are all out there with very little cap space remaining around the NBA. Knicks have somewhere around 7 mil left in cap space and moving Knox and waiving Vildoza would get them to 16 which is more than reasonable for the top remaining FAs. There’s another big move out there.

I can't imagine us waiving Vildoza. I can certain see Knox & Robinson being made available.

I agree with you. I have a hard time believing that we carry 2 rookie PGs on the roster (Vildoza and McBride) simply because I figured Thibs would want another vet besides Rose. We will have to see. Either way i fully expect the Knicks to move Knox either for a future 2nd or in a sign-and-trade for an incoming player to open up a starting salary of 13 mil per year for another player. Someone like Schroder may have to take it.

Knox is done here.
