That's cool. A pick to shut Thibs up, a pick for Wes and a pick for Leon to support his son

I would certainly think he is in play for us with the first 3 picks, or some combination trade down/up. I like him. I like Mann (shooting) and Cooper (playmaking) more, but McBride looks like a guy who can play D and find ways to score. Maybe his best case upside projection is a player along the lines of Jrue Holiday. Not gonna shoot the lights out from the field, but he can score, has some leadership ability and plays hard on the defensive end of the floor. He is squarely in our targets.

I wasnt super familiar to be honest... feels like there are like 10 of these guys. I just love how Thibs handled Quick and how Quick handled Thib's handling of him. Obi also. You could tell it was very old school and short leash but at the same time Thibs showed them tons of love.

This is hilarious and honestly could totally work for us

I don't get why this guy does not have any hype behind him. I am no expert on NCAA but the film I seen on him he can do a bit of everything. If we can get him and Duarte I would be a happy camper. I like Coopers passing but his height and shooting scares me away big time. If he is still there at 32 maybe I would be OK with him.

Thibs liked him and according to the post loved Grimes at the combine. We wheeled and dealed, but got the 2 players that were cited as Thibs faves in the press.

phuck an A!!!! These guy are not turkeys... they are long athletic skilled 2-way guys with high motors who can both shoot it.

McBride is build like Rondo with that wingspan and hands. Neither guy is one dimensional. It will be really interesting to follow how these guys stack up with the rest of the draft class. We worked out all these guys, moved all around and some appear to have walked away with a couple guys we really wanted AND walked away with more assets than we came in with. With the Cha FRP next year thats 4 in the next 2 years....

36. New York Knicks (from Oklahoma City): PG Miles McBride, West Virginia

I love this pick. I had McBride as a top-20 guy on my board, so getting him in the second round is great value. He's a tough, gritty guard who can really get after it defensively and has the tools to be a really high-level shot-maker in the NBA. Grade: A+

Not so sure about the Rondo comparison. I think he is a lot more like Marcus Smart than Rondo. He's got some more upside to be a shot maker and distributor than Smart but I wouldn't compare him to Rondo. I love him as a perimeter defender though.

The Knicks were def. linked to both and I heard Thibs liked McBride in particular which make a ton of sense. However, considering some of the other prospects available, I would not consider Grimes and McBride as long, elite athletes. They are more gritty, intangible types, which I still like.

Last night I had my hopes set so high on Sharife Cooper to the point of not being able to enjoy our draft picks and I was wrong for that.

After putting hours of research into this kid Miles McBride today, I can truly say that he looks to be an awesome player and an A+ prospect for Tom Thibs to coach up and develop.

He also went to war on the basketball court against the #1 overall pick in Cade Cunningham 2x (2 games) and not only did he do more than just hold his own against Cade Cunningham; but he balled out against him and went 1-1 against him too.

Cade Cunningham:
(2 games combined vs McBride).

42 Points, 17 Rebounds, 7 Assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks off of 16/31 from the field, 5/16 from 3PT and 5/6 from the FT line (1-1).

Vs.

Miles McBride:
(2 games vs Cunningham).

40 points, 6 Rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks off of 14/33 from the field, 3/10 from 3PT and 9/10 from the FT line (1-1).

His steal of Cunningham and then his fast break transition slam dunk (right before the half) was just A+ exciting for me to just watch and this kid has me fired up.

Went head to head against the #1 overall pick and pound for pound did not back down and plays like an absolute DOG (now I know why/see why coach Thibs wanted this kid Pre-Draft).

Immanuel Quickley/R.J Barrett/Quentin Grimes/Miles McBride = NYK finally has a "changing of the Guard" with now 4 extremely young and 4 extremely talented Guards. I'm pretty excited right now.

If Cade Cunningham was the #1 overall pick then McBride was the steal of the draft because this kid HARASSED Cunningham WORSE THAN A TRUANT OFFICER!

Kid is a DOG!

Highlights of McBride versus Davion Mitchell and Baylor.

I am kind of at a loss as to how McBride lasted to the second round. As others noted, this kid held his own against two of the best pgs in the country last year. He is an above average shooter and solid defender. It is a question whether he can run a p &r primarily because it does not look like his college offense ran a lot of them, but nothing I saw suggests he cannot excel in that aspect of the game. He does not turn the ball over, and he has solid athleticism. While his first step is not elite, it is certainly good enough to get by most people, especially after he develops his head and shoulder fakes and handle. This kid definitely should have gone in the top 25. Hopefully the Knicks found another steal.

it was a really deep draft with a lot of these type of guys. Ringer had McBride going 29:

Gritty player with a winning mentality and an insatiable appetite for getting stops on defense.

On-Ball Defense
Hustle

PLUSES
Unselfish playmaker who makes quick decisions in the open floor and has the potential to thrive in a spaced-out pick-and-roll offense.

Comfortable shooter off the bounce with NBA range who can use stepbacks and side steps from any spot. He’s also a knockdown shooter off the catch.

Relentless defender who’s a pest with constant on-ball pressure. It’s like he defends from inside his opponent's jersey.

Offers rim protection from the perimeter because of his elite ability to contain dribble penetration, forcing pull-ups and floaters.

Excellent potential as an off-ball defender. He makes timely rotations and makes an impact despite his lack of size.

MINUSES
Doesn’t create a ton of space off the dribble. He has good-but-not-great ball handling and burst.

Though he’s an explosive leaper in the open floor, he too often plays below the rim on layups and frequently gets blocked or heavily contested.
