I have been like everyone else here- always jumping all over ideas of how to improve the team, speculation, etc-
For the first time- I'm actually more in trust of what the team of Rose and Thibs etc will do- and curious -
So instead of what we "should" do - what do you think they WILL do? Do you have a read of this FO like we have had of others in the past? I don't- they're quiet and don't share a lot of vision and strategy. I think that's smart. We've been too obvious in the past w our goals to the press. L Rose doesn't say anything! We don't even talk about him too much at UK.
What do you think our front office is really planning? Is it just taking 2 picks and signing FA w cap space or some craziness trade wise we couldn't see coming?
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I agree. Leon Rose has earned my confidence. I like thinking about possibilities, but Leon knows exactly what kind of deals are on the table. So I might disagree with a Sexton Love trade without knowing that the Knicks have another trade lined up for Love. Last offseason turned out well, the front office has my trust.

Great ideas don’t always execute and its a disaster. When you revisit the details of the McDyess trade and how he was playing it really was a good idea that failed miserably. Of course in hindsight one can say “How could hit have been a good idea since look what happend”?

Toronto got Kawahi on a year year rental if if they got eliminated by philly, it would have been a bad idea. But it executed.
CP3 to PHX. What if they got eliminated by LA in first round and he got hurt? Then how does it look?
Results matter, thats all I’m saying.

Mills/Perry signed randle but Leon/Perry gets the glory. Randles ascent was as big a factor as Thibs.

Make no mistake about it, I agree with OP and the confidence offered this FO. Dolan can insist on a starphuch trade like LIllard and we cringe at it. How it executes will decide the legacy. So what is Leons goal next who decides the direction of the club?

You want to paint your house an awful color you blame the home owner, not the painter. Maybe the home designer is in charge but you get the approval from the owner and they pay for it. This team is not ready to cash in big for a player to get over the top.
Thats one opinion.

No idiotic press conferences. No internecine warfare with any of the players. No ghost writers posting **** about ****.

We have a quiet group of professionals who oversaw the cobbling together of one of the best seasons we've had in a decade. Cap space, check. 1st round picks intact, check. Nothing splashy (yet). We got two and a half yoots (Obi only counts as half, so we don't get the SkiRack police upset) who are being developed nicely. Some assets from previous regimes are being marginalized, to the detriment of some fans' psyches. It's expected. Some old hands and even a nice redemption story, that may still have a chapter or two left in it.

The vibe is working so far.

This regime is patient. That’s the difference.

Layden started the descent into hell trading a first round that could have been an 18 year old amare and Marcus Camby for McDyess, Isiah then tripled and quadrupled down on the win the 8th seed now strategy and then Phil traded for Rose and signed Noah instead of preserving cap space and drafting and developing

Don’t make any flashy moves for big names unless it makes sense. Be competitive next year (7-8 seed) then go big after 1-2 superstar UFAs in 2022

Randle's improvement was no doubt the biggest part, but don't overlook signing Burks, Noel, and Rivers, and then trading DSJ for Rose while adding Taj. Even those herky jerky draft positioning moves at the end to target Stewart were impressive. He targeted a guy and when DET got him, moved on. -Rose has got some moves.

I am down with trading for love if it gets me sexton. Cap space should be used any way to improve the team.

Seems like this FO targets particular players and then asks Brock to do his magic with trade up/down scenarios.

I would have guessed that they would target guys that lean towards being defensively complete (to go with Thibs style of play) but that has not been the case with the Obi/IQ draft (although IQ was a prime defender on the wing for Kentucky).

There is definitely a CAA/Kentucky pipeline, although IMHO that is more about intel than actual players.

NY wanted to trade up last year and could not. NY wants to trade up this year.... and so far has not.

The Knicks were not headed north until they got Rose.Without Rose I’d imagine different sentiment. Rose Toppin iq not really defensive stalwarts — but team d in whole was good. So not worried if someone is not perceived as the next Rodman —- just want good players who will buy in

We wheeled and dealed in the draft and got a great value pick. We knocked it out of the park signing vets on 1 year deals (Noel, Burks) and we nailed the one trade we made (Rose). I hope it continues...smart moves, no overpays, lots of value.,,,

Whatever moves they make- will be based on a solid plan -
Still nervous as a Knicks fan, but less so than usual
