Last year we stole the SEC Player of the Year in Immanuel Quickley who immediately became an NBA All-Rookie and also a team USA Select selection (despite being picked #25th overall) due to draining over 100 3's along with a beautiful floater.

We should all be super excited and fired up about featuring picks #19, #21 and #32 (because 2021's draft class from top to bottom is as deep of a draft class as we've ever witnessed; outside of 1996).

HOF Basketball Players:

1983: Clyde Drexler (14th).
1984: John Stockton (16th).

1996: Ben Wallace (Undrafted).
1986: Arvydas Sabonis (24th)-(FIBA HOF).

2001: Zach Randolph (19th).
2001: Tony Parker (28th).
2001: Gilbert Arenas (31st).
2002: Carlos Boozer (35th).
2005: David Lee (30th).
2006: Rajon Rondo (21st).
2006: Kyle Lowry (24th).

2013: Rudy Gobert (27th).
2014: Nikola joker Jokić (41st).
2016: Pascal Siakam (27th).

All Stars Players:

1983: Doc Rivers (31st).
1985: A.C. Green (23rd).
1985: Terry Porter (24th).

2009: Jeff Teague (19th).
2011: Nikola Vučević (16th).
2012: Khris Middleton (39th).
2014: Zach LaVine: (13th).
2015: Devin Booker (13th).
2016: Domantas Sabonis (11th).
2017: Donovan Mitchell (13th).
2017: Bam Adebayo (14th overall).

Etc.

All of that to say this...

We shouldn't trade away our farm and future for a 31 year old PG with atrocious Defense in Damian Lillard who's already suffered 5 first round exits with maybe 3-5 years remaining (max) before becoming completely washed up and absolutely shot.

But instead we should continue building around our talented youth of potential in R.J. Barrett (21), Immanuel Quickley (22), Mitchell Robinson (23) and Obi Toppin (23) along with our FA All-Star in Julius Randle (26).

Two of my most recent favorite NBA dynasty teams have been Sam Antonio who drafted David Robinson followed by Duncan/Manu/Parker/Kawhi along with Golden State who homegrown drafted Steph Curry/Klay Thompson/Draymond Green and already won an NBA title and 73 wins before Kevin Durcant win without Golden State ever joined (ran to) them.

I'm so fired up about 2021's NBA draft and I personally want both of Sharife Cooper and Tre Mann @ 19 and 21; in order to add to our young core of Immanuel Quickley (PG/SG), R.J Barrett (SG), Julius Randle (PF), Obi Toppin (PF) and Mitchell Robinson (C).

This list was just an example of impactful players drafted outside of the top 10. Because if I were to list all of the top 10 busts the list would be just as long.

And no. I'm not trading anything for an overrated 31 year old PG who's absolutely atrocious on Defense.

R.J. Barrett as only a 20-21 year old 2nd year player just ranked top 15 amongst all NBA players in Defensive Win Share in comparison to a 31 year old Damian Lillard who just last year ranked 300th in Defensive Win Share (299th).

He's already 31 years old and because of HIS atrocious Defense he's been eliminated during the 1st round 5x (including another 1st round exit this year too) and @ 31 years old he's maybe got 3-4 years (max) before completely breaking down as a washed up player and a player who's already completely washed up on Defense.

I'm not giving up anything of value for a player who's not only overrated but will be retired sooner much sooner rather than later.

There have been some really Good to-All-Time great NBA Players drafted outside of the Top-10 (dating back to 1983)
