Every day it’s in the news — major papers too. That means they are feeding them the news.

or maybe they are trying to lure an elite player with their trove of cap space and are pumping up the value of joining a ready to win roster.

Also they are pumping the product. Who's the current face of the franchise? Thibs?

I think we can all agree that RJ is in prime position to become a breakout star at some point.

Maybe they are just understanding like other teams in other markets that pumping news is branding awareness. We have a draft with 3 picks. Maybe we keep them, maybe not.
We are here talking about talking about.
RJ if team Canada advanced would be a big deal. ANd media would have been fed even more.

Another reality: There are media metrics to measure a the exposure of a team and how that branding could help. Knicks are a positive story now and the proof is in the ratings, eyeballs, etc.
A strong rivalry with nets would even strengthen this. I can't speak to what equates to "Neilson ratings" for internet but this is a thing. Some players are ego driven and that's ok. Lebron's production company is better in LA than elsewhere. That said, expect more.

.......or maybe its clickbait from the NY Media creating rumors leading up to the draft and free agency.

i can't think of a single reason why it would behoove the Knicks to be feeding the media about that

i'm putting this in the clickbait bucket. Someone starts a story to the effect that it would be logical for them to throw RJ into a deal because you would need something like that to land Damian (or whoever else) and by the second or third recycling of that it starts getting reported as a rumor (not a thought) and later still reported as fact

The Knicks have one attractive trade piece that's not a draft pick and its RJ. I don't think thats the team, that's the offseason and the media drumming up trade propositions since there's nothing else to write.

ANy deal for Dame is RJ, Obi and 3-4 picks. Really makes sense for Portland to blow it up now. Collins is not moving the dial and they have no moves to improve on what they have.
Dame has 4 years left on his deal and a top 10 Talent. Max value is present.

This sounds about right..

Safe bet leon isn't talking, perry (is he still employed) never talks, Wes always moves in silent,

I just hate when they use the term "(SOME IN THE ORGANIZATION) that could be the ball boy for all we know..

Some of These articles that i see online (clutch sport, Empire) are basically one person's point of view on what the knicks should do, may do, or Hope to do.

That would be the worst possible move we could make. Adding Dame is not enough, he probably gives you a 3 year window and we lose too many future picks to keep building/adding talent. Meanwhile RJ's floor seems to be a 18-20 pt scorer with solid defensive effort - for the next 8-10 years. Portland should blow it up and Dame would be best served to head to LA or a contending team. As a fan since the last 70s - trading for Dame with this deal would be tough to swallow.

31 year old dame with zero supporting cast here. Sounds great

In case you needed more confirmation how God-awful Fiz was. Supposedly RJ before his rookie year was working on modifying his shooting form to improve his fg and 3pt percentages. Fiz saw him working on it at the gym and told him to stop and go back to the shooting form he had in college where he was shooting like 30%

So when you wonder how RJ’s shooting improved so much between his rookie and second year look at that idiot Fiz
