How long has it been since we had an all star PG...we're talking since WALT FRAZIER, some 40 yrs ago

Every Regime has totally drop the ball on acquiring one Via Trade, Draft, FA.

It's like everytime one becomes available,(draft, FA, Trade) we look the other way, and will not move heaven and earth to get them.

We've had All star SG, SF, PF, Center at some point in the last 20+ yrs.

All we ever acquire is stop gap pg's..

I T brought marbury here, paid a lot for him, and that sht failed miserably even after we got MDA, a point guards dream coach.

I hope Leon makes it happen because this has gone on for too long

Mark Jackson?

I'd be happy with a Charlie Ward/Chris Childs back court - one that can play d, take care of the ball, run the offense, and set up our skill players.

Must be the Curse of Clyde, although Michael Ray Richardson and Mark Jackson both say hello.

[will now wait for the LinLovers to come out of the ground]

none of the options were good. I just this its cute you cant tell the difference between a guy who's leading you to 50 wins and a bunch of lousy options at PG

those type of PG's will no longer cut it, Payton and frank were suppose to be those types, and look at the results.

You have to have a Guards who can score at will and set up teammates, and long wing players who can do everything.

Look at the teams left and tell me what the all have in common

Clippers..Reggie, PG13, Kawhi
Suns... Booker Cp
Bucks.. Gannis, Middleton
Atl.. Trae, and slew of wings that can shoot and are long (6 7")

Then look back at the last few championships Labron, Kyrie, wade, curry, Klay, Kawhi.

Wings and Guards is the primary position

Having a generational talent on your roster is what those teams all have in common, and I agree, we do not possess, nor do I see where or how we should acquire said talent.

Disclaimer, RJ had a nice set of stats that pointed to him being really good:

Fresh off a career-high 32 points in New York’s win over Oklahoma City on Saturday, he’s on pace to be just the sixth NBA player ever to average at least 18 points, six rebounds, and three assists per 36 minutes before his age-21 campaign; before this season, only LeBron James, Chris Webber, and Luka Doncic had done it.

Jury is still out.

In the philosophy of Hinkie, should we blow it up? Unless we find a way to add talent this summer, I think we are looking at taking a step back next year. A lot of players that did well this year will either not be here next, or not likely to perform similarly.

that's ridiculou, Rj will get Better, IQ will get Better, randle will get smarter, OBI can get better.

You have draft picks, Cap space, a bunch of open roster spots (at the same time) those are the tools to build a better roster.

Maybe you think the knicks are going to resign the same players..but that would even more ridiculous because we got exposed

nope, still a chip shot

Knicks have not had good PGs because they have not invested there. Its kinda like in the 90-00s when only teams with dominant centers or Jordan could win and everyone was like "we need a player like Shaq/Hakeem/Robinson/Ewing/Deke etc etc

Knicks have drafted one guy (Frank) and there were 4 guards there in Frank/Monk/DSjr/Donovan and the guy drafted last was the only keeper. There is some luck involved. This is why when you see a pick like Quickley and his D draft rating playing really well its exciting. Lots of studs fall for various reasons. Hopefully we got at least one

#1 The reason why we haven't had a legit pg in a while is because PGz are like dinosaurs. They r becoming extinct.
#2 Donovan was the better pick, but the thread is about PGs....Utah needed a PG after having Donovan on their team, so they grabbed a PG to play next to their SG.

There's a ton of options this summer, so we need to get our solution. Ball still makes so much sense because he can fit with anyone. You can sign him and play him alongside Barrett, Rose, or Quickley in the backcourt, or after trading for Beal, LaVine, D Mitchell, etc. He fits anywhere. In a line-up of Ball, Barrett, Bullock, Randle, and Robinson, you're still short on perimeter playmaking, but you hope signing Ball serves as a precursor to replacing Bullock with an elite playmaking wing.

Dude took a total of 7 FT in the month of april, and it's been well documented that he does not penetrate to the hole.

He also did not lead the Pels to the playoffs at no point in his tenure. They literally drafted a pg even though they had him

You can't pay him more than 15 per and that would be a 2 yr deal

guards i think the knicks should pick up the phone and see if they are available

Garland
Fox
haliburton
Lillard

If we could find a Michael Ray Richardson clone minus the drug problem...man, we would be set!

Yeah but I think what he's saying is that you sign Ball not to be your PG, but as an upgrade to Bullock which isn't the worst idea.
The Future is Bright!
Why can't the knicks solidify the PG position?
