I think he has 2 years 25 mm left on his contract. He’s played great in 25 games with Houston

He’d be another Avenue that we can spice up the center position with. He’s a great passer good rebounder and would help spread the floor. Smart high is team defender. A guy who would give us more firepower upfront. The expense wouod leave us with enough cash to find some excess firepower in the backcourt. Cost would be a first rd pick in sure but we have 2.

Olynck contract expires. Why not sign him as a free agent?
Your better than that Briggs!
Stand alone his stats look good on a tank team so lets not get ahead of ourselves. He ain’t no “Christian Wood” either.
But.......as an off the bench player and one I believe Miami misses a bit at the right price I can see it. But I see many things and perhaps Obi outside shot keeps coming along he can take that role for us and then some.

Yeah, but he transferred on to the Naz Reid express. I personally like the idea of signing Kelly as a deep bench big on a small deal. He's clearly not a starter, but he offers skills that would help.

Deep bench big???? Have u seen him play as a starting 5 man even 1 game in Houston? They interchange 4-5. The guy is really good— would a big bat to the line up. I’m sorry I missed he was a free agent but really even better. We don’t need to spend 30 mm on one pg. I’d rather spread it around give olynck 13-14 Payne 6-7 and then we can just draft. We need another big bat — a guy who has all around game—- olynck would be the right price

I've seen him play on the rosters of good teams and, eventually, he ends up being a backup, at most. He offers no defense or physicality in the front court. I haven't really watched him on Houston, but I've seen plenty of him in Miami a Boston.

Is Denzel Valentine available? Maybe we can pick up his last year's?

I will take Kelly. If he cuts his hair and signs for min

Yes, he is good. With With Randle on the court where do you play him? Kelly is no rim protector so the 5 is out. Back up to Randle? Ok. If OBI is traded I can see some minutes there. He did well in Miami as part of the rotation and of course as well in Boston.
But he is now 30 and SPECIfCALLY how would you use him?

I like Oly-NYK. If only for the fact that the last 3 letters of his last name show that the stars are aligned.

Olynyk is a type of player we do not have on our roster currently. He's basically everything Bobby Portis should strive to be. Tough, fiery bruiser with an outside shot. He'll come at a higher price tag than Noah/Mitchell/Gibson combined and he wouldn't even start.

Kelly the bone-crushing goon? The Rangers are in a greater need to sign him, to deal with the various Tom Wilsons

I don't know if Olynyk is a PF or C but he needs to be played next to a defensive presence if your team wants to be high level.

Think Al Horford or Bam.

Don't know if he fits with Randle/Obi

I get the sense that every coach that plays him big minutes does so because they don't have any other options, like it's closing time at the bar and you order five more drinks to try convince yourself that annoying chick you've been trying to avoid all night isn't that bad.

Yeah, because he can shoot - and he's a good all-around skilled player, he simply commands more. Yeah, he's a little bit of a last resort and it means your team is in dire straits. He's best as your planned "change of pace guy". Really good shooter, passer, playmaker, glue guy - he's got that thick beefy body that the Knicks lack at center. But he's not particularly quick or athletic and probably hurts you a little bit if you have to rely on him too much.

A likely cheaper target is Marc Gasol - if he wants to check off the box of living in NYC for a season and is ready to be a deep bench guy. A lot of the same type of skills - but with Gasol in his twilight years, Olynyk is probably a better player today. But you're not signing either of them to be a starter - you just want 15 quality minutes when the match up calls for it.
