Mia Henderson, 26, was found stabbed to death in an alley in 2014. Five years later, her sister was fatally shot in Baltimore. Keiosha Moore sustained a fatal bullet wound to the chest during an incident in which eight other people were shot on August 11, 2020. Both were sisters of Knicks guard, Reggie Bullock. Bullock spent three seasons at North Carolina and was a 2013 first-round pick of the Clippers.
Born Kevin Long, Henderson was designated male at birth. But she didn’t identify as male. Raised in Kinston, N.C., Bullock admitted to feeling shame when he was younger. There was never a formal coming out; Henderson just was who she was.
“I definitely had to educate myself about transgender issues. But obviously, growing up in a household with a sibling that was pretty much a part of that community, I never disrespected her. I never disrespected her friends.”
Bullock has since become an public advocate for LGBTQ issues.
“The main message I got from my sister is that she was just happy to live her life. You know what I’m saying? She was just happy.”
No one knows the agony Bullock endured last season. The Knicks showed patience and allowed him to heal through a losing season.
Yesterday, in the biggest win of the season, Reggie Bullock played 46 minutes and delivered 24 points (8-17 field goals, 5-12 on 3-pointers, 3-3 free throws), four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block against the Los Angeles Clippers, the franchise that drafted him.
