Derrick Rose was always a score first PG. Early in his career with his explosiveness it was easy to play that way- he could create by virtue of getting in the paint, but I'm not sure you could ever call him a true floor general. In his Bulls career he had never exceeded at 2.5 to 1 assist/ turnover ratio and even later in his career in Minnesota the best he had achieved was a 2.7 to 1. For most true PGs the gold standard is aiming for the 3 to 1 ratio. I didn't think when he came here, he was the right fit for the team, b/c we had some scoring guards and were missing a true floor general.

This year his game has changed significantly. His A/TO is 3.3 to 1 and his overall turnovers per game is down to 1.3 in 26 mpg- only around an 8% turnover rate, by far the lowest in his career. His game is way more under control and his ball handling is smooth and confident. Yes we funnel a lot of the playmaking through Randle, but I'm extremely impressed at Rose's ability to pick his spots to score and drive, while simultaneously taking care of the ball and facilitating the offense. Its not easy for guys to change their games - Rose needed to change his out of necessity because of the durability, but if he keeps play smart, in control PG he could extend his career another 3-5 years. Gotta credit the trust between him and Thibideau and Rose really maturing as a player, shifting focus to do what he needs to do to help the team win ballgames. Been really fun to watch.

and he will come back cheap in the same roll. Reason? Rose doesnt need much money. $4m vs. $12m next year doesnt mean much to him. He wants to enjoy playing basketball, enjoy going to work and enjoy this part of his life and he's still driven to win and work hard. Remember he gets HUGE money from his Adidas contract. If Rose signs for some veteran exception for us he'll still be collecting huge money (14 years $190mm + plus perks)

He loves Thibs and its clear his style of play and impact on the young guys are 100% team first.

Stuff like this is the real value of Thibs and rebuilding the culture. You get guys like this filling gaps. All these guys teams with good cultures end up with old guys who love the game, kick ass and work cheap

I keep watching and reading articles and keep wondering how this is the same guy who was bawling his eyes out when Phil traded for him and this is the same guy who filled the back pages (and this board) with rape charge stuff when he was here last.

Unreal.

You must have this ready to copy & paste at a moment's notice! Still, music to my ears each time.

Have to make it happen. Rose/Quickly/AnyoneButElfrid and we're good!

Rose has been such a rock for us. Came in embracing his role, ready to mentor the youths. Acknowledged his faults from the last stint, and has been beyond humble with his success. Even if we didn't have the minutes for him (we do!), he would still be a great addition to the locker room.

I didn't think it was possible, as his last stint was an Epic bust. But I'm happy to eat crow on this one.

I'll be thrilled to eat more crow if Frank ever figures out how to control the tempo and make the right passes.
Somehow with Knox, for whatever reason, I do hold out some hope against hope that he will figure it out and be useful. Not sure why I feel that way, just that he has some good offensive tools, shoots well and is very athletic, if he can just learn some discipline and defense.

But yeah, thrilled with Rose's impact on the Knicks. No way they would be in the 4th spot without him.

Unreal.

I don't think he was crying because he didn't want to come here, it was more of an emotional depart considering he never got chicago that championship. He said from Day 1 he had hope to resign with the Knicks. Phil certainly would trade for player who didn't want to be here.

D ROSE had one problem when he was here..He refuse to shoot 3 pointers, and he hated the TRIANGLE, most of the team did, and no one was on the same page.

Since the 18/19 season he has been very solid

he did NOT want to come here. Why do you make **** up and then comment on it? He almost quit the game he was so put off with being traded. Might have been his contract w/ Adidas that kept that from happening.

Rose also still thought himself a star and a lead player and simply wasnt coachable. He's come a long way on all fronts. He accepts he's not the player he was and wants to enjoy his remaining time in the game and he obviously loves Thibs.

Dude you either Lazy, or just hell bent on sounding ridiculously silly.

Rose explains that he was excited for a fresh start after being traded to the Knicks in the summer of 2016. He thought teaming up with Carmelo Anthony and Joakim Noah gave the team a chance to be successful, but he quickly realized it was a bad situation.

“I had decided I was done playing,” Rose wrote. “I saw the same thing that was happening with the Bulls was going on with New York. I could tell that the season wasn’t going to be the season everyone thought, that I thought. I didn’t know if I wanted to hoop anymore. Especially when it started to feel like a business. Of course, you know it’s a business. They always say that. But you know it’s also hoopin’. But it had started to feel like all business, no joy. That’s when I wanted out. I wasn’t having fun.”

I try with you, but you just make sht up to try and prove me wrong and always come away looking foolish.

The team was winning right up until melo and phil got into a twitter war, and it all came crumbling down like a house of bricks.

He explained his reasons so many times, and it had nothing to do with him being traded or thinking he was a star...That was your thinking, not his

He's always been a team player and none of his teammates every said a bad thing about him or that they didn't enjoy playing with him.

You never wanted D rose then, you weren't happy when you first heard about him coming back, and now you want to act like you knew better.

Even after all that, he still wanted to comeback...

FISH get the hell of the short yellow bus, your smarter than that

your big comeback is a quote of Rose literally saying how much he hated it. "No joy."

Beep Beep... Bus is outside :)
