We need to draft a combo guard who can play like 33 year old Derrick rose in 2-3 years when his legs give up on him lol

Which guy?
Davion mitchel
James bouknight
Cam Thomas
Jared butler

He needs to be able to share the 🏀 with iq and not be to much of a defensive liability. (All of these guys are barely 6-3 on a good day)
I’m thinking about our long term success, being good for 10 years .
We also need a wing to replace bullock and burks when they want to much money.

Kispert or Duarte ?
These are two important needs to be filled in the next 2 years draft.

Lastly,

We need to use the 50m+ in cap space the next 2 years to pick up a point guard and another all star for Randle.

I think Toppin will be adequate as our rotational 4. So the pf position is fine.

We could possible have a team with
- 2 all stars and a Robyn (RJ barret)maybe 3😅
- solid pg
- above average rotational players

Blueprint guys

Exactly. Prime Derrick Rose don't grow on trees (no pun intended).

I was watching some old Rose videos. This dude was off the charts in athleticism. As fast as he looks now, he is no where near what he used to be. That being said, he is still probably better than 80% of the pgs in the league.

Yes this is why I wrote a 33 year old rose. Everyone is correct but the issue is he still needs to be replaced in a year or two with a new/different type of talent)

Yes Derrick rose at 20 on these layups you see him doing he would have mashed it in these guys face.

I think if we can find a solid pg we'll be fine regardless of his skill set. I mean, if Payton is the baseline just finding somebody competent would have a major impact.

Hhmmm.. yeah. Out of the pg’s listed above,Jared Butler is my pick. Other guard options, projected to go lower I like, Jayden springer and ayo dosunmu. Wings in this year’s draft I like scottie barnes and Moses moody.( would have to move up ).

I was all about Davion Mitchell but seems like that’s not realistic anymore. Jared Butler or Dosunmu are nba ready combo guards who can essentially replace Payton on the roster and allow Rose and Quickley to take over expanded roles. I’m fine rolling with this if we don’t go after a big PG in free agency.

how about trading for daruis garland? only about 6 million wont cost much plus we have two first rounders surely one of them and two players, knox and frank can go for him since the cavs are going to be drafting high.

From what I remember, Cleveland's guards were considered the worst defensive combo in the league.

The Knicks are having a surprising season, a team that's almost has the same roster as last year, a team way below the salary cap, a team with 5 first round picks the next 3 years and all their 1st rounders going forward. This team has great chemistry, even the bench players are viewed as key players.

I dont know how to look at the teams salary the next 3 year but for the Knicks to finally have continuity, will the numbers still match up if we keep Noel, taj, Rose,(one of burks or Bullock) for a multi year deal? Eventually Max Randle and re-sign Mitch and could still have cap space to sign for 2 max superstars if they want to sign here?

Is a more realistic senario is to resign the players i mentioned, sign Randle to a max contract then sign a superstar to a max in the next year or 2 then to get another superstar, just trade for him by packaging Mitch and knox, Frank and a couple picks?

I do think is an absolute must for Thibs' system to work to have atleast one of Mitch or Noel in the roster to anchor the defense.
