So after being a few games over .500, we had a few stinkers then redeemed against the lowly Pistons. Before that a few heartbreakers with perhaps an assist from the refs (and the NBA?). Conspiracy theory and beer tears aside, here are the Knicks at 25 - 25 with 22 games to play, currently in the 7th position in the East and well within reach of the 4th. It seems highly likely we will at least be in play for the elimination round.

If we were to split the remaining games that would be 36 wins. Even if there were a tailspin less than 30 seems practically impossible. Who here before the season would have predicted 30 wins? Not many. 36? Fewer. So besides just putting this small miracle into bold type, I ask other posters what their expectations, desires, hopes etc. are going forward. What I want and what I expect are not the same of course. I'd like a longer look at Obi and perhaps a last longer look at Frank and Knox. Do not expect that. And yet I also know that Thibs' drive and stubborness are a main factor to the Knicks' rise from decrepitude.

No tanking of course. Hopefully develop a core going forward. Get the team some winning and playoff experience. Then head into the offseason with two mid-ish firsts and an early second plus cap room. And next year take another big step.

Whats what is left on the schedule 30 seems likely. I don't see a lot of winnable games left

Well, we are a month away from a behemoth of a west coast road trip. We did not improve at the trade deadline, unless you count addition by subtraction. We did not add any noteworthy waiver players. We lost our top GLeague affiliate players. And our healed started center freak injuries out again.

I think the expectation has to be below 50% for the second half as fatigue and injury will catch up with the Knicks and the minutes they are logging. I’m not expecting them to make the playoffs this year. It will be heartbreaking to miss it, but I think a team that is playoff bound makes an upgrade at PG and strengthens the bench.

Maybe that’s a tacit acknowledgment by the FO that they don’t have the guns to compete with the top tier. Or simply an understanding that this will be a multi year process.

We did better than I expected, but mediocrity is a curse in the NBA. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle, but it doesn’t feel like they are making a push — seemed like they were merely clearing salary

Looking at this schedule if we finish .500 for the season I will be thrilled
