He wouldve made the trade more balance towards our side. Dennis Smith was an awful piece. I just look at our team and can see how well Brunson would fit in. Hed start PG for sure.

Especially after a loss where the guy looks good.
Wish we still had Hardaway.
Wish KP was healthy.
Wish KP was not a dick.
Wish we drafted Donovan Mitchell.

As much as I wanted to move KP the front office did a terrible job with that trade. Brunson should of been included. The Knicks have had many chances to rebuild the team but made the wrong choice at every turn. Had we traded him to the Celtics we would be so much further along. I'm so sick of losing. Its 6 years since we drafted KP and we still aren't a .500 team. Its hard to be a fan of this team.

We waited way too long to trade KP. Phil tried in 2017, got laughed at for even taking phone calls, and Dolan vetoed what may have ended up being a top 2 or 3 trade in franchise history

It's easy to be a general after a battle. Yes, now we all know it would be great for the Knicks if Phil traded KP the first time he wanted to. But realistically, at least 90% fans would probably go crazy on that trade. When KP was finally traded, the train has already passed where he is a future superstar and where teams are ready to give super high packages for him.

Yes, my first reaction was "it's good that we managed to get rid of bad contracts along the way, but I think we could have gotten a better player than Smith." And that was at a time when I expected that Smith would be quite OK for us. But in the end he proved to be a total failure. But to get back to the part where I was hoping for an even better player. It later turned out that simply no one wanted to give more than this. The Knicks reportedly contacted the Kings and tried to arrange something about Fox, but the Kings said that was out of the question.

I agree about Brunson. I can see us getting him as a backup plan to Lonzo Ball. Rose and Brunson have the connection of course. I really believe our starting PG next year will be Ball but if it’s not I think there’s a solid chance it’s Brunson. I can see Rose offering a first round pick for him if needed.

Wait a minute, I thought it was the media and the fans that kept Phil from being the world's greatest FO exec?

And the media was listening to the idiot fanbase. Got it.

Oh wait, wasn't this the same dumb owner who hired this historically incredible trading genius?

DSJ had to go from the Mav's standpoint. On paper he was the better centerpiece (lottery pick vs 2nd round pick). Brunson had all the intangible winning credentials and it's pretty amazing you could be the best player in all of college basketball and be a 2nd round pick. I mean, Brunson is the type of player I'd have wanted, but in a way Harper had a somewhat similar profile, leading his Auburn team to the final 4 but not coming home with the bacon.

(For reference... Brunson is 24.6 years old... DSJ is 23.4... and in spite of perhaps losing some athleticism, is still 2x the athlete vs Brunson.)

DSJ is the worst. It really is incredible how clowns in the media were hyping this guy up as the next Steph Curry just up until a year and a half ago.

I always saw him as the next PG with hops. Poor man drose. I thought his highlight dunks would energize the team and fan base. I was wrong

He did energize the team and fanbase the first couple of games here. I don't know what happened, but he lost his pop. Wish him luck on his journey.

Dennis Smith stopped playing with that top tier jumping ability that he has. He's almost like a player who has passed his prime and only shows it in flashes. For whatever reason Dennis Smith just doesn't play at the same speed he did in college and when he first came into the league. Not sure what happened. He stopped attacking the basket and playing aggressively. Maybe he's afraid of getting hurt, or whatever. But there was a time when he showed his athletic gifts constantly, and now we just don't see it anymore.
