With Lebron James out for the year, and the Nets further solidifying their line up with Lamarcus Aldridge, is Brooklyn taking home the trophy this year?

They have pretty much assembled an All-Star team, and are definitely the favorite on paper. But paper don't play. The Lakers didn't make it all the way in the season when they had Shaq, Kobe, Gary Payton and Karl Malone. Then again, when Harden is on, his team is very difficult to beat. And unlike in Houston, when the rest of the team had nothing to show when he had an off night, here he has Kyrie and KD to pick up the slack, plus a front court to stomp over anyone.

Probably, but I hope not, I just find their main three players unlikeable- not even in a cartoon villain sort of a way that I found the Heat back when they had Lebron etc. I just find them three dull a-holes

Yes. That they can add multiple All Stars through buyouts is a joke. I don't think the pieces fit very well but they have enough offensive talent to overwhelm teams

Hold up, LBJ is out the rest of the yr or season?

Damn, thats fcked up

Did the tell DRUMMOND that before he signed on to chase a ring.

The NETS have a roster full of INJURY PRONE PLAYERS very few defensive players, zero defensive coaches.

Aldridge and Blake have been Trash the last 2 yrs, and did nothing to elevate their previous teams, and no one would trade for them

I have nothing against the Nets winning it’s not their fault the Knicks aren’t capable of building teams that win. Or are a destination of choice.

Nets are generic starphuch that will garner some bandwagon following in NYC. On paper the talent is extreme and with low minutes by the buy out guys perhaps they can string it out.
Injuries, covid and chemistry like all teams will tell the tale as well the competition. A team like Denver can go thru a healthy tear and beat on paper talent.
I don’t follow the narrative of Durant being unlikable or Kyrie being sensitive. He may be a bit bat shyt crazy but he is not a law breaking douchebag like Beasley of Minny is. Kyrie is a bit flaky but His intentions seem ok. If we can look past JR Smith and his manslaughter charges and root for him I can look at Kyrie not breaking laws, killing anyone, etc as ok. He about family and social justice. If nets ok with I’m absences why should I care? He not a knick. “If he was”.......Well then we might be having a different convo but fact is he is not. Same for Durant and his durability.
That we don’t like those guys because they rejected Knicks? From where I sit they made the right choice for them at that time at that moment they had to decide.
If they win I hope they do their parade in Brooklyn. I know Mets get “Canyon of heroes” parade downtown and thats all cool. They are NY Mets. Yanks in Bronx are NY team on Uni. Islanders are a NY team in transition and I dont know what they do. But Nets are “BKN” and they should stick to their identity. IM not being territorial.

IM from Brooklyn and as a kid Net ABA fan. I thought (Think of something original JROD) I’d be a bit more into Nets but really at the end of the day there is no pull here. I have to admit a starphuch Knick ensemble would not thrill me as much as an organically grown team thru drafts and development. Not to say a Star FA would not matter but If knicks did what Nets did I’d root for them but can’t say its the same intensity as growing a team.
This is why some of us are drawn to root for Frank, Knox, and OBI and are super excited about Randle’s ascension, and RJ and IQ’s rise! We are fans. Not entirely delusional but hopeful.
I like MDA and Steve Nash. Harden, Durant, and Kyrie have all played in big games and I respect and enjoy watching them when the wore different uniforms in their previous cities. That the play in Brooklyn does not endear me but it does not create more dislike then before.
I hope we don’t go this route. I rather liked what Atkinson was doing and admire the job they did rebuilding form Billy Kings attempt to capture the city. We tried that and it did not work for us. Remember the time line, NEts an Knicks were after Melo. Jazz were savvy as **** punching Deron on Nets as consolation prize. But this was an arms race which both teams lost. Nets did advance further. That Knicks and Nets bottomed out and they rebounded before us with no lottery picks was brilliant move by Sean Marks.
That said we are in Leon’s hands and Nets have new owner amped to make a short term run. Knicks success this year is far more inspiring as a fan then what Nets have done. I’m not impressed. I’d be happy for MDA and Nash if they win. They have fought many battles together and that matters in my book.

martin, I humbly request this thread be moved somewhere between "Who touched it last?" and "AI learns to dribble" in the NBA forum.

Eff the Nyets. If we don't eliminate them, I'm praying Utah or Denver or the ClipsOnTheirShoulder sweep them in 4.
