Unless wide open what is our 20 yo doing with the ball in his hands for the game winner

The roster has bad spacing. Just look at the wolves. Edwards is surrounded by shooters. They let him be the playmaker. Our 5 are mostly slasher. Randle needs more room....since they can pack the paint, due to RJ and Payton being none shooters, they can crowd the paint when Randle has the ball.

So I don't care is payton had a triple double. Payton needs shooters around him to be successful. Think about this, we have 3 guys all in thd starting lineup and played in crunch time. And all 3 need shooters to be successful....Payton, RJ and Randle. Im convinced....those 3 can not and should not start or finish games together. They do not compliment each other.

I agree with you, like spacing has been our biggest issue for 2+ seasons now. But with Rose out we didn't have a choice but to play him and he still did a decent enough job offensively. As a team we shot pretty well too. 47% from 3 is pretty good but we got embarrassingly sloppy with the ball and it cost us.

Yeah whats his deal with RJ? I mean that shot was wack and clearly not a shot in his bag but he didn't have much room to operate.

Agree. Not saying RJ was beyond reproach. Made a costly mistake late in the game. But damn, Clyde sounded like just another fan.

Is it just me, or has Randle's body language been off the last several games? I first noticed it during both Washington games, which we won...

I rather play IQ on an off night than Payton. You wont go far with teams playing us like this. I don't even blame Payton. Thibs should have never let him finish the game. He has improved the teams but the amount he is playing Payton is inexcusable.

Terrible loss. These are the losses that will keep us out of the playoffs. Not many winnable games left on the schedule. We had to have this one. This is still a bad basketball team. Don't let the top hevy east fool you. By the end of the season we will be well under .500 and out of the top 8 spots

Glad they played us like that and glad they won.

What, we should get a medal or a trophy for going from the worst team to a mediocre one? We have huge holes and instead of trying different things, different rotations and an actual offensive system, we instead go out there with the same plan expecting different results. And for those close minded, criticizing coaching doesn’t mean wanting it fired, means that the expectation should be to put your stubbornness aside and fix the things you can, even with limited talent because that you can’t fix right now.

its the NBA, road teams lose all the time to lessor teams.
RJ is not Kobe yet. I’m sure option 1 was Randle. Knicks take what defense gives you. They gave us RJ. Kobe as a closer hit 33% of game ending shots and he I think had the best % over a long career. That means 67% of the time he did not come thru.
It was a bad ending to a well played game. We can second guess Thibs moves after a loss? Sure. Why not.
Mob mentality against Elf now is super cool.

As I said elsewhere. I hope this game eats away at RJ aaaaaaall the rest of the season and Summer long and I hope what Edwards said pisses RJ off to the point that he can’t take it. Then when we play Minny again next year, RJ crushes Edwards.

Edwards shows all-around smarts early on and is playing the mental game in his post-game interview. But he has picked the wrong guy in RJ, who is likely to be unfazed by the missed shot, the interview and just about anything else. "Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me"

RJ does not always make the right Read, and plays like a 21 yr old thats improving, but has a long way to go.

This is actually the 3rd game this season (that i have seen) where he blew it in the final seconds trying to be the MAN.

Yes! I just wish we played Minny one more time this season. Love to watch RJ put 30+ on his head and hold him to 10 pts on bad shooting.

I was going to say the same thing. Players will quickly realize, RJ uses negativity to fuel his growth. There will definitely be some get back. It may not happen soon, but when it does, I will be there with the "I told you so" thread.

Edward's a rookie and already know he is 10 times better than RJ Barrett on both sides of the court, that's why he called Barrett out.
We have to many fans that get highly emotional when u mention any of RJ flaws.
I'm a Knick fan who watch over 20 consistent flaws in RJ Barrett performance in two seasons.
Just because RJ was the 3rd pick in the draft, automatically Knicks FO demanded RJ Barrett receive 30+ minute of playingtime in all his rookie season games (got two head coaches FIRED!).
After watching last season Knicks having Fiz/Miller as head coaches, I wanted Payton, RJ, and Randle traded in the Covid-19 offseason. Why? The non-chemistry trio of Payton RJ Randle kept HOGGING the ball and denying other teammates the ball. And they are doing the same old thing in this season. In our last two games, I watch DRose Randle and RJ deny the ball from rookie Quickley every time he was given playing-time, making Quickley look like he was no help in the offense.
It's all good for the Knicks having head coach Thibs preaching/teaching defense like Pat Riley & Van Gundy to the players, but History still says Thibs is still a 7 player head coach that has no luv for the other 8 players on the roster. There was a strong reason why Butler ask to be traded from the Wolves in his final contract season. Plus Thibs has never been a winning playoff head coach. Letting PF Randle control the offense as a PG for 40 minute a game, knowing Randle best friend is Payton from their previous team NO Pelicans when their flawed performance had Anthony Davis demand a trade.
Putting Frank in the starter lineup with a non-chemistry Randle & Barrett calling all the shots were a setup, being they had Frank on the DNP list for over 25 games.
Denying Knox and Obi 12 minute a game to be in the 2nd unit the first half of the season shows bad judgement on our coaching staff.
To not understand the double-digit scoring from the bench in Quickley & Burks were the reason the Knicks are a .500 team makes me laugh at last night Knicks LOSS !!!
