Giving Phil any credit? Sacrilege! But I agree. And dare we give Perry any credit -- or Dolan?!!!! But the Rose FO has taken the baby steps from Phil and Perry to a leap forward. Including not succumbing to the mindless pressure to cash it in for an over the hill mega contract. Stick with the plan guys please.

Most important thing any organization can do is hire the right coach. He choose Fisher, who was not ready and was dealing with his own personal bull****. The Noah contract was a joke even at 2 years let alone four. Courtney Lee types you can always overpay for one year you never give a role player multi year deals unless you are close to championship. Frank was a miss, that's another strike. He started a big public fight with his best player devaluing his trade potential. The Tyson Chandler trade was horrible and added more salary, more years and no value. Smith and Shumpert, they got nothing for as well. All in all a train wreck.

The only win was KP. He could have drafted Justice Winslow which would have been a mistake. Had he been able to trade KP for a big Celtics package or Booker perhaps things would have been different.

Marcus Morris was literally our best player last season. Not the best fit but we owe a chunk of our wins to his shooting.

I honestly want to know what Phil did right. Really. Please make a list of the baby steps. And list something other than "didn't trade away 1st round draft picks for people like Bargs..." And how do you state the bold over and over again while dismissing the Noah signing with a wave of the hand? I'm guessing you loved the Melo contract as well?

I am earnestly wondering what Phil did right.

So yahoos listen up. I am not saying Phil did a good job. Not at all. Or that Perry is Red Auerbach reincarnated. Phil did a bad job and Perry is an incomplete but has done more good than bad that has been major in the current resurgence. I just find it tiresome to see everything painted with the same broad brush again and again. Yep, that's my axe to grind here. How unique of me on this board.

I don't expect this discussion to bear any fruit. You and other posters here pretty much make my point. There is no pointing out anything positive about Phil without an immediate shootdown with a negative. I have acknowledged the negatives elsewhere. In several instances, Phil wasn't ABLE to trade off first rounders. I find pointing that out over and over again even more severely tiresome. And when you're spending your tenure losing historically, not trading first rounders isn't revolutionary, it's pretty much GM 101.
