My friend (a lowly Bulls fan) sent me this email.

"yo my uncle's a huge knicks fan and he sent me this story, i figured you'd like to hear it (or maybe i just want to torture you with more knicks failures). anyway, he said when the ABA and NBA merged.... the nets then owed the knicks $10mill dollars to pay for territorial fees(cause they were infringing on knicks territory) so the Nets didnt have the money, so they offered the Knicks 3mil cash and Dr.J and knicks turned it down.... so they sold him the the sixers in order to pay the Knicks"

Has anyone else ever heard about this? Man, the Knicks have had some bad luck.

Ahh, well it's all in the past now so there's no reason to keep thinking about it now... you should also be thinking about how retarded the Nets were (and still are) at the time, selling Dr. J...

Oh yes, very well aware of this. I was a big ABA fan back in the day and we cried when Dr. J was sold.

We cried even harder when the Knicks took the money.

He was sold for 6 million.

Considering the StarPHuching that went on for years after, apparantly it was the time to start.

That was a lot of money back then! 10Mil was a gift!
