Gossip in the NBA Talk don't have us as a priority getting anyone by the 25th deadline. Is that True? we get zero action.

Papabear Says

I heard this talk before on the trade line and we come back with zero. I checked all of the gossip blogs and I hear very little about the Knicks. No lonzo Ball and no Oladipo.
No one has said that they really want to come to New York. I'm so sick of fake news like we are getting Lonzo Ball and Oladipo. We probably will stay the course which is not a bad thing.

Likely we do nothing of substance, like in the last offseason- our new front office seems very disciplined- they have a few idea’s they’ll entertain but they have a limit in terms of how much they’ll pay, AND will stick to it.

I'd rather that than stupid moves for overpriced players.

the whole dynamic of this trade deadline is suspect because

1)The top 3 teams in the east are waiting for buyouts,
2)The middle teams want verbal commitment that it's not a 2 month (pad your stats) vcay leaving them high and dry in july,
3)the bottom feeders will wait for FA
4)most of the players teams have on the block are on expiring deals

Let me also add that this is going to be one of the weakest FA classes we have had in a long time.

So basically the knicks will be overpaying somebody either way, now or in the summer

I am not surprised they are not making any major moves. The current Knicks front office are a lot smarter than previous regimes - more patient and less reactionary. The Knicks will wait and use their cap space and money to bully teams in the off season by overpaying for players they want Lonzo, Norman Powell etc. Zach Lavine is unrestricted in 2022 and LOVES Thibs. I would not be surprised if he refused to sign with Chicago and signs with the Knicks instead.

+1
And while we aren't in the big office with them, and Leon barely speaks, their approach has allowed for immediate results. You can say it's all Randle's off season work, or RJ finally turning the light bulb on, or IQ being a gift from God, or Thibs returning home as the seasoned brains and working with the killer staff, but we aren't seeing the deranged flotsam we've seen in the past. Role players are working out, even "Satan". Frankie's getting some sort of chance, even if he is wetting the bed at times. Thibs apparently has a short leash and not much patience for mental cases. Maybe Obi shows intensity in practice while Knox is playing PS5 games in his head? Who knows.

Suddenly being a playoff team for the majority of the season gives the FO the space to breathe and not being forced into one particular plan or another. Winning supplies options, instead of just possibly stupid reactions to losing.

We're in a once a century worldwide plague. You'd think they would have at least Zoom-televised some practices and a few meetings with the FO. Imagine the ratings that would get!

1-4 is fairly generic to most years. Every year the hype around the deadline more than the resulting deals.
The collective agreement has been favoring players for the most part reupping with current teams. The financial hit on Gianiss to NOT take the super max was massive. Bucks a small market team also held on to an asset and they can trade him while not losing him for nothing. AD never hit the market for similar reasons and Lakers did not fall into the abyss for making suck a deal. They won a chip.
When we got Melo we had paid a price to clear cap space for Amare and then made the trade. Lakers did let Randle walk. They let an allstar walk!! They also moved future allstar D’angelo Russel for Bropez and that cap space was needed for Lebron. Granted it all worked out but Lakers played a precarious game. Toronto also as they cashed in Valachunas and Derozen for basically one year rental. GSW falls apart and they lucked out but if not Toronto would be seen differently.
My point is running a team is like a chess game. Early moves really matter more than we think. Its not like some of us fans who are chicken heads realizing “Its a weak class”.........Teams know this well in advance and understand that there are somethings that will happen and many scenarios that become random.
Harden to Nets? who saw that last summer until harden acted up. That the Nets had the assets to make a deal was also improbable.
I can’t see a path to glory for knicks but that does not mean one does not exist. I’m just smart enough to know what I don’t know.

I always said no to any of the ball brothers because of their dad, but seeing the deminished crowd at MSG and I think the papers RIGHT NOW would cut the father off at the heels because this team doesnt need the lavar circus.JMHO

what are you basing this on, because if your basing this on our last 10 off seasons, you can't think will be fine.

You have to think that if these TOP players on expiring contracts get waived, sign with a contender, well (remember morris said he would consider re-signing with the knicks in the off season) and end up staying with the clips.

That would leave this offseason with little to no top tier players and overpaying 2nd tier players like dipo and powell.

We will once again be sitting waiting for a star to request a trade, then balk that the price is to high

The Knick hating media will continue to ignore us. All we can do is continue to draft well and develop young talent

If Isiah or Layden were still here Quickley and draft picks would have been sent to SA already for Derozan

Thank God those clowns are gone and Dolan is letting Rose and Thibs do their jobs
