Not a great 3 point shooter but highly consistent at all other facets of game

Simply not the energy I want after this win either. You know we need spacing and Demar does opposite.

He's basically what RJ is expected to become.

Briggs, I'm under impression you persistently mention players who are actually a terrible fit for this roster.

Derozan is a super consistent upper echelon type guard. I’m not being fooled by barely beating bad teams void of their good players. Same thing was said about Randle— bad fit. We have solid 3 point shooting— what we could use is another Randle from the sg to solidify

Is DeMar playing guard now? I was under the impression he was swinging between forward spots for the Spurs. And he's 31. You sign him and you probably have to move RJ. It's not a clean transition. How would you fill the rest of the starting lineup out?

We have a better version ( potentially) in Barrett already, let's develop him instead

Yes, the two of them are relatively similar, and in today’s league it’s not exactly ideal to have two such wings. If one is like that, then the other should be a great 3p shooter and an athletic defender if possible.

No. We need guys that can shoot. Derozan can’t put the ball in the ocean

I feel like Derozan and Oladipo are the kind of player that have all star chops in many respects, but because they can’t shoot the 3, they end up hurting their teams. Honestly, guys like Derozan and Oladipo are what I fear happen to Barrett. It’s why I want to see him working on his shot...non stop. He would be a lateral move. Not sure what he adds that Barrett won’t in a year or two. But Barrett has more upside.
You know I gonna spin wit it

I believe RJ will be a pretty descent shooter. Not someone to whom this is the first weapon, but quite decent when it comes to throwing a three here and there. He is best when he has the ball in his hands and it is probably logical to put next to him someone who is a great shooter and does not need the ball in his hands. Instead, every now and then someone comes up with the idea of pairing him with a ball dominant player where RJ would then become a spot up shooter which makes no sense.

I’m not sure I get it
Derozan is a 20-7-5 50% wing. He’s a great passer which I love. His game is slightly inside the 3 point line— he doesn’t create space issues
He’s probably the best free agent by a decent margin. You can interchange Barrett and Derozan at 2-3
We only have to give up money. No assets. Meaning we can take 2 more quality draft picks and possibly add Derozan

I heard the same bad sht about Randle and many many people were wrong. Derozan also good on defense rebounds at 6-7. Good age 31– just a good player. We have back ups playing burks bullock. They are hot and cold players. Derozan is an every night player.

After a bad shooting start, Barrett is up to 34% from 3pt. That is a great sign for his future as a shooter.

I will say this again. A lights out 6'8 to 6'9" spot up shooter would make this team a top 4 team in the East. Had we taken Mikal over Knox this team would be essetially built. The good news is picking later might be better to find this player. We won't go for perceived upside we will most likely pick for fit

Kispert is probably the closest thing to that guy in the draft. Wagner too. He’s not the lights out shooter but does a little of everything. Both will go in the 10-15 range I think.

DeRozan is a good player. But his skills are a bit redundant to Randle and Barrett. Can't you think of a better fit? Also, DeRozan isn't very good in defense. I have watched the Spurs this year, but his defense hasn't really been a strong part of his game as a wing the past several years.

The above article has a collection of video s highlighting DeRozan's poor defensive IQ.

Takes little detective work to understand Briggs. Derozen leads Spurs over Pels LAST NIGHT with 32 pts and 11 assists and when that synapse goes thru his head it flows to his fingers and a thread start.

Timing is everything. On the surface its not a terrible idea but Derozen is in that late stage career thing were at age 31 to be 32 he can either look for top tier money or prolong his career by taking less but be a part of a team for a few years. That thing that Miami does like they did with Igudala. Briggs is not entirely wrong but it really depends on the completion of the team going forward than piece by piece ideas. So yeah, he is a talent addition but we have no idea what this team looks like after this season other than a few tweaks and adding 2-3 rookies.

In a world were Burks and Bullock are not part of the team, there might be a fit. In a world were Thibs plays the best players that day to win it does not allow for deep development. Not to say we are not doing it with Quick and Obi. Its just not that we are doing it in smaller doses.

But if the future is Randle/RJ or a future trade then its hard to just superimpose Derozen just because he is a talent upgrade. IQ and OBI factor in here somewhere. This is a 3D chess game with picks coming we can’t understand become they are not visible.
