Sorry guys, I just am. I dunno what it is? He makes Crawford take a step back in my opinion, for me that is, of who is the most exciting player on the court. Marbury is third, tied with Tim Thomas, and second is Crawford, but #1 is Ariza. I am so excited when I see him. He will be a pleasant surprise, and I think that he will make the rookie team. This kid has a lot of talent, still young, but something the Knicks have needed. He attacks the rim, which is great, and I refer to him as a poor mans Vince Carter.

I've been wondering if Sweetney will make the rookies vs. sophomores all star game. If he gets 20 mpg, I think he will.

I've been wondering that too. I've also been wondering if Ariza will make the rookie team, like LI. If they get minutes, both are good enough to make the teams.

Marbury is third

Really, Marbs is third? IMO he is a very exciting player. More so than Crawford, atleast thus far. I don't know how many times I've jumped off my couch watching Marbury threading the needle with a pass, going making a layup after a foul, shooting a fallaway jumper, or just pulling up for the 3.
I do think Ariza is more exciting than Marbs, just from the nature of his game, but to each his own.

Ariza is exciting because we havent had a player like that, possibly in the history of the knicks. Gerald wilkins when he was first drafted but this kid has potential to be first team NBA all defense and not to long from now. He's a lock to get minutes because simply he has tremendous talent which has equated into solid production.

Bringing in Sweetney Ariza and Penny has turned the game around for the knicks several times.

Crawford could be annoying as he can be exciting. What he has to do is concentrate on being a second playmaker out there--rebounds penetration, passing etc.. instead of shooting long J's.

Id like to see Jamal shoot better than 43% with something like 14 points 5 rebounds 5 assits

That'd be great if we had Sweetney on the rooks-sophomores game...
I believe Ariza is only more exciting because everytime I see him I'm anticipating some drive to the basket and some facial dunk on someone Marbury is still awesome

A lot of great playmakers don't shoot 43%. I just want Crawford to be a more consistent playmaker and scorer and defender. I feel much better with him as our starting SG than Shandon, who started about half our games last year!

Man... what a great second unit. I wont compare this team to the 99 team, because despite underachieving in the lockout shortened regular season the 99 team was FAR more talented than this one. However one of the things I loved most about the depth of that team was how the game changed when the 2nd unit of Camby, Childs and Spree came in.

The more I see that 2nd unit play the more I like KT starting. Penny has played GREAT in his role. Having those 3 as your primary 2nd unit is awesome. They will simply clean up against the other team's bench 9/10 times.

I like ariza because he is everything I want as a fan for my team, young, full of potential, and athletic. Now I hear the gerald wilkens comparisons and I remember when gerald was drafted, gerald was a good athlete, learned and developed a decent jumper and became a good defender, but gerald did not have the handles and passing ability that ariza has, that is the difference and is the reason why I am excited about this kid..

I loved GWilk... really did. Him and the Xman were two of my favorites of that era.

Your right... Ariza isnt just another Gerald Wallace. He's got some bonafide skills and hes TOUGH. I am 100% convinced we should use our own MLE next season to either lock up his Bird rights or sign him long term. Imagine when his jumper is more consistant and he puts on 10-15 pounds? Anyone seen Shawn Marion play?

Fish, in an IDEAL scenario, we re-sign Ariza to a 2 year LLE deal, which would give us his full Bird rights. (After that 2 year deal expires, we will have had him for 3 years, counting this year.) Then we still have the full MLE intact to pursue other free agents. Depending on how much and how well he plays, though, some team might offer him much more and force us to use some or all of our MLE on him. Either way, as long as we get his Bird rights, I'll be happy, but obviously I'd prefer to keep the full MLE intact next summer.

I love the fact that if we can sign Ariza for longer and get his bird rights, he instantly makes TT and his expiring contract expendable. Next offseason, we can get our dream center.

people tend to forget how good players were after not seeing them for a long time. If Trevor Ariza can put up ANYTHINg close to what gerald did, I would personally be surprised. remember Wilkins had elite type athletiscm like his brother and was solidly built. Check out his FG% for his first 10 years. If this guy played 40 minutes, you'd be looking at close to superstar numbers.

Little hastey? Ariza will be great for us, but he will be lucky to see 15 mpg. There are guys like Okafor and Dwight who will be starting, getting 30+ minutes a night, making a HUGE difference on their teams.

...All Rookie 1st team ain't so bad, right?

Rookie of the Year's are not players who come off the bench. I don't know if a reserve has ever been ROY.
Also, if Ariza were the ROY, he'd never play another game in a Knick uniform because several teams under the salary cap would offer the ROY more than the MLE.

Dwight Howard Okafor are likely runaway winners with Devin Harris in third. I do think that both Damien Wilkins[Gerald's son} and Ariza have legit outside shots at first team all-rookie, but it will be hard.

the way I see it as of now for rookies 1st team
c- Emeka Okafor
PG Dwight Howard
SF Luol Deng
SG JR Smith
PG Devin Harris
6th man Andre Iguloda
2nd five best with no position imho and in no order

Al jefferson
tony allen
damien wilkins
trevor ariza
andres nocioni
