I have to admit, I don't know where and when the Kool-aid reference caught fire in this forum, or if it is just a generic catch-all phrase, but check this out:

"While they would never admit it publicly, some of Albert's former colleagues feel the same way. Albert called them "great people" whom he still regularly talks to. These particular folks have to support themselves and their families. So, they drink Dolan's Kool-Aid, but don't swallow."

Dolan's gonna be on Mike and the Mad Dog today at 3:00, first time ever he is gonna be on the show. Mike and the Dog always complain that they can never get Dolan on and today they got him. Should be interesting.

It's a reference to Jim Jones, a cult leader that poisoned a bunch of his followers using laced Kool-Aid. Here's a link on the origins of the phrase:

he's talking about the situation surrounding Marv Albert's departure...he says Marv was never interested in the team, that he refused to agree to portraying the team in a more positive light so as not to discourage viewers from watching Knick games this year, & that he basically took offense to having any guidelines for his game commentary...this all led to the Knicks not renewing Marv's contract.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

How can anyone possibly think Marv was not interested in this team. Over the years, Marv had become as much a part of this franchise as anyone else. He easily could have left long before if he wasn't interested.
Sure he may not be like Ian Eagle on YES, and overhype EVERY single play, but that's why the fans loved him. He was realistic while still acting like he was obviously a Knick fan.
