Think Phil Jax not disappointed by not breaking Red Aurbachs record of titles?

Here is my take (the world according to Nalod):

We all know Phils mentor was Red Holzman. Phil was Weed smoking intelect even then, but Red taught him the practical side of life. He loved Red.

Red Holzman was disrespected by the often successful, and smug Red Aurbach. Holzman really did not like him.

Think he would not love his mentor to beat his record in a knick uniform? Think Jax would not love the challange of doing it with out a stacked team? Many think there is no greatness considering the players he had.

Wishful thinking, a great sub plot, and a favorite son returns his team to glory.

Im gonna cry.

It's a shame

Isaiah didn't hire him before preseason started.

But Lenny will not make it to next year.

Isaiah has this all figured out.

No matter where we finish

Unless we win it all

Lenny will be scapegoated

Lenny will be replaced

Dammit if Phil and Zeke haven't already discussed it.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

I would love to have some Zen on our bench, but there is no reason to give Lenny the boot yet.
If he is going anywhere, it will be during a tough stretch during the season, and let's hope it doesn't have to come to that.

Thanks for the Shining reference though, been a while since I've seen it. If any of my kids ever start acting like that, I'm gonna have to consider an adoption agency.

Not enough talent on the KNicks for him to come here. He needs the top two players in the league to make an impact. With the Knicks he is just another coach. the Knicks would be better off going after another coach. The triange has lost its luster after 9 titles.

Think Denver Nuggets when you think Phil Jackson. 05-06.

He might be intruiged with all the expiring contracts and what Isiah would do with them.If he let Jackson have some input(which I doubt) he may be interested.

It would give him a chance to prove he is more than a coach lucky enough to be surrounded with some of the greatest players of any genearation in their prime.

Id like to see if he could make a difference, its not like there are alot of coaches out there and available who are better than he is.

It may depend on whether Isiah can parlay TT's and Penny's expiring contracts after the season into a top tier big man, and what Isiah can do with the 2005 first round pick.

No. No offense, but Phil Jax is only going to go coach a super duper star, usually two super duper stars. I'm sure he'd love to go to Houston to get Van Gundy fired. Or to go to Denver if they can get a scoring SG for Melo.

Phil would only come here if he had final say over personnel and if the Knicks had a legit top 5 player in the league.

I did say he would have to have some input into future deals which would be unlikely but I dont believe having Jackson coach the Knicks is an impossibility if Isiah can put the right team together.A team like Detroit that was balanced but didnt have a dominant player or players like he had with his previous teams might attract Jackson, that and a big payday.

I could see Isiah ego being too big. He is a big name GM right now, and would be the architect. Lenny is a low key person whom does not require the spotlight.

Jax does not seek the spotlight, but has in his own right become bigger than life. His presence would undermine Isiah as being the face of the team's front office.

If the two of them can put their heads together, it would be great. I would give Isiah huge props for being a big person, and a smart person to bring Jax on board.

I think lenny will do a good job, but if we raise the bar I hope we can think of him as doing a job elevating the team for a while, until the character of the team is determined, and the right coach bought in to enhance that charactor.

I dont think Isiah will have a problem with Jax at all.

Zeke called Riley about the position - or at least that was a rumor. I do believe they spoke on the phone and neither commented about what was said.

If he was willing to bring in Riley (which would have had this city celebrating like the red sox) he is probably willing to get Jackson. Why wouldnt he? The man isnt dumb - he is always going to be Isiah Thomas - no other personality can take that, his charisma, or his fame away from him. So what if Phil is a star two? If the two of them build something and NYK wins a ring - then they both get the honor. If Zeke is taching Marbury to distribute and score fewer points, Zeke can distribute some spotlight to Phil Jackson.

I do agree Jax wont be here until our roster is improved.
