There was a trap on defense that resulted in a turn over. That's great defense by the Knicks. The score is 59-53 Nets.

Ariza's not shining as he has. I expect him to do something spectacular any minute now.

Whoeva was screaming for full court press on this thread is a genious because now we have become defensively sound. It appears our woes rely in our coaching because this team is a good team we just need a mnotivator to press us to execute. It is very appearant now.

The ineffective stretch in the 3rd seemed to be a result of poor shooting.

Yeah it was Drew, but mainly because we weren't executing sound offensive plays.

On the surface, you'd think the Nets would be awful.

Big losses: Kmart, Kittles
junk: Lucious Harris, Rodney Rogers

Big additions: Vaughn (strong upgrade at backup PG), Mercer, Eric Williams (two competent starter-quality players)
Small additions: Krstic

On the surface, the Nets look like they took a huge step back... but really, the only major loss they sustained was K-Mart (Aaron Williams is still pretty good). Kittles had more knee surgery--- and considering his problems in the past, maybe the Nets didn't want to take any more risks. Rodney Rogers was a perpetual disappointment for them-- he missed-- then hit a big shot in the playoffs--- that pretty much sums up his career w/ the Nets.

Kidd is injured. It's not like his injury was a management decision.

Frank looks like he's a pretty competent coach--- preaches defense (look how many charges the Nets try to draw!) and keeps the ball moving on offense. If Kidd comes back near 100% before the all-star break, I think this could be a .500 team.

Back to the game:
The Knicks have clawed their way back-- and I think it's a good sign that the Knicks have gone to the line a lot.

Why don't the Knicks run more isolation plays for Sweetney?

With the Knicks lineup there are alot of plays the Knicks could run especially isolation. I blame that on Lenny. He isn't doin' shyt when it comes to coaching. Atleast that's what it looks like to me.

I haven't really been watching the plays they are running closely...so I can't say one way or the other.

Sweetney's a foul-drawing machine! (He commits his share of fouls too though)

The refs need to start giving Sweetney's big butt more respect. It can't be fouling all these guys...

The last couple defensive trips Ariza has made some very smart swithes and decisions.....I like to see that. Very smart for a rookie.

Nice move by Sweetney. Gotta hit that freethrow though. He reminded me of LJ on that one.
