in the frontcourt --kind of like a sixth man type becaue I believe it will be easier acquiring an athletic 4 than a 5. Its a success if he ends up as a 25 minute 12-13 points 7 rebounds 50% player as a cog in a team that can win big.

Yeah, I think his downside is that he develops into someone like Corliss Williamson (an awesome sixth man but below average starter). His upside is still someone like Zach Randolph.

even if you add an athletic 4 you still need scoring in the post. If you add an athletic 4 that *can* score in the post you found the next Kmart.
Sweetney isnt slow or a plodder. he just doesnt play above the rim. I think if you get an athletic THATS the guy that comes off the bench. The more I watch Sweentey's post game develop the easier it is to see a 10 year starter there.

All the proof you need for him being a 10 year starter were the words coming out of Bippity's mouth months ago. NOt sure why you need "more proof". Always remember if I say it, it will be so.

one last thing... so what? While it would be nice to have an all star PF in a works here there is nothing wrong with just having a good player off the bench. Maybe you get a guy that gives you 10/8 off the bench. I think he's better than that and will be closer to a 16/12 guy.
I guess my only point is if he doesnt become a bigtime player and starter it not a failed draft.

did anyone watch him against the Nets? Talk about a physical presence. The guy couldnt hit a shot and he still dominated. One of the things that continues to impress me is his passing out of the post. This guy should really get 15-20 touches on the block. He just makes good decisions.

the only disadvantage I see with his height is he cant shoot over a double team. Granted Scalaweenie and Krstic arent elite NBA defenders but their height meant nothing to Sweetney. The only thing that kept him from getting to the rim were the double teams as soon as he touched the ball, and he even beat some of those.

double teams hurt Sweets a lot but he did look comfortable passing out of the post (and keeping the same position, which is important).
the Knicks are hurt because they don't have outsite shooting ala Houston. It'll come though.

For now, I really like the role Sweetney has coming off the bench, playing major minutes, and closing games. If he were starting, I could see him often picking up 2 fouls midway through the first quarter, coming out due to foul trouble, and being hesitant throughout the game because of foul trouble.

I have seen him knock down some impressive turn around fadeways, If he can consistanly knock that down they'll have to play him more one on one anyway, because regardless to double teams, fadeaways are usually unguardable.

Wife gives me 20 minutes a day to use the computer. She says I should use it as a welcomed break from massaging her back and feet.Since I fear that she may be monitoring my keystrokes I will just say, that she is right.
Anyway back to the topic at hand. Those of you at MSG will remember me saying this and I stand by it, this nonsense about being undersized is just that, nonsense. He will be scoring 20 pts and some announcer will still be calling him undersized. What does that mean? At 6-0 isn't Allen Iverson undersized no matter what position he is playing. Yet he has no problem getting his shot off. Other teams always used to put their tallest players on Sweetney and he woud dominate them by getting them in foul trouble. Then they'd put their fattest guy on him and he'd dominate them by getting them in foul trouble. That's Mike's game, enjoy it. He will be tough to guard regardless of his opponents size. And he defintely has no problem with rebounding. This stuff about being undersized is simply a "media creation". Ignore it. It means nothing. Well at least not until he is in his mid 30's and loses all his skills.
