01/22- NOBODY LIKES THE KNICKS- If you listen to media that has traveled in and out of New York this past week, to a man... they are not a good team... ya think? The word is this Knicks squad has quit, and Don Chaney is simply too nice a guy to get them in line like Van Gundy did, and there appears to be no solution in sight. Trade rumors have ramped back up but, GM after GM is going on the record saying that no one will take on the Knicks bad contracts. In the end it seems like Scott Layden and company will have to liquidate at a loss to make the changes they want to see happen. The prominent thought among pundits--- liquidating Sprewell and getting role guys, and in the summer selling off some of the vets for promising young draft picks and completely re-tool--- something Knicks ownership is steadfastly against. Why? a Knicks playoff game is worth $1 million, a 7 game series is $4 million, a trip to the 2nd round is worth about $8 million, conference finals, another $8-9 million. A Finals run covers most of the Knicks payroll, and scraping the team means no chance at the playoffs, something Knicks management will not allow to be said or at least perceived. In the end, its true...nobody likes the Knicks...not in trade...not at the box office...and clearly not on TV
