think about it, when Houston comes back... how can we fit him into the rotation.. is he gunna play over Penny? i doubt that.. especially when the playoffs roll around... his experience is valued... it might depend on matchups ...

this is wat the rotation is gunna look like

Nazr/Baker
Kurt/Sweet
TT/JYD
Hou/Craw
Steph/Penny

no way we are playing more than 10 players...

only possibility i see is him replacing baker??

Nazr/Kurt/
Kurt/Sweet/JYd
TT/Ariza/
Hou/Craw
steph/penny ?????? i dunno... but its gunna be tough for people to find minutes on this team, i believe we should use 10 players tho

He should be playing ahead of Penny. We also don't know when or whether Houston will return. That said, he shouldn't get more than 20 mpg anyway because I don't want a team to offer him more than the MLE next summer.

Yes, I agree, he should play ahead of penny. Even if his stats don't show a good line, as long as he is not hurting the team. His development is more important than anything Penny can do. He should eat some of TT minutes, or if tt decides to bang, move him over to pf when sweets needs a rest.

Most important thing, he gives us more options.

Penny is a very good player for 15-20 minutes a night. I think they will both play. Ariza isnt getting all this time because he's being showcased. This guy is a part of the rotation.. plain and simple.

He may just need more time, but I know Lenny is dying to see what Ariza can defensively against the long guards that rule this conference. Having a long athletic defender to sick on the Paul Pierces, LBJs, Steven Jacksond and Richard Jeffersons of the East will go a long way towards the Knicks winning games.

He's got no jumper but I have been suprised by his ability to handle the ball. Some of his passing suspect, but a lot of that is trying to force the action, rather than just making bad passes.

this team isnt going anywhere with TT and Penny. If Ariza hurt the team by putting him in for the sake of it, then I would agree with you. But he has talent and skills with the explosive athletiscm knick teams have rarely had to truly help the team off the bench. He is the highest energy guy BY FAR on the team and he oozes with the potential of one day being a star as well. He's a thuroughbred and you have to let him go. My gosh when that shot goes down and he puts on 10 pds of muscle and adds even more explosion, we could have an all star within 3 years. I view Ariza as a 2-3[with emphasis on 3]--if TT plays a little less--if crawford is moved over to 1 knocking moochie out of the rotation==that the way to go when h2o comes back.

you will NEVER see allan playing consistent big minutes-he'll be a 20-24 minute player like reggie miller IMHO. anything more than that--i dont think his knee will be able to take it long term.

so if i broke it down at 1-2-3

3 TT 26 minutes Ariza 14 Penny 8
2 Crawford 20 Houston 24 Penny 4
1 Marbury 36 Crawford 12

i think ariza is definitely better than JYD as an all around player and penny is inconsistent. without ariza we lose some serious pep.

My concerns about this team remain the same as when we were swamped 3 times in a row. we rely heavily on perimeter shooting and we are smallish--our test comes on Nov 3.

giving Ariza about 15 minutes a night his rookie year sounds about right on. I have no doubt now he will be a nist cost effective player also. Use the MLE on him next year. Penny and TT are both good players... I know your (Briggs) in love with anyone under 21 but no team wins with young guys. Heck, Det was 32-50 one year, and 50 and 32 the next. The only player the added was Cliff Robinson. Yea they replaced the coach, but is Rick worth 18 wins?

You need veteran players that know how to win. Penny and TT are grossly overpaid, but both are also good NBA vets that know how to win.

Its a process... you cant turn you whole roster over with young guys and expect to win. It never works in this league. The closest thing was in Denver and they had Dre Miller, Veshon Lenard and Camby. Heck, they even voted Lenard captian.

IF Ariza is re-signed with the MLE and he looks ready for MAJOR minutes next year at SF, you can try trading the expiring contracts of Tim Thomas, Vin Baker, and Nazy for a center and a bad contract (Magloire and Mashburn, who probably will never play again?) or for a PF that a team can't afford to keep (TT and Sweetney for Elton Brand?)
You do need vets on the team like Fish said. If any of those trades occured, you'd probably want to keep Penny and JYD.
