I know its still pre-season but with three straight blowouts how long will Isiah wait to pull the trigger if this carries over into the regular season?

Still time to turn things around but from what I have read on this board and in the papers the Knicks arent playing with any fire.

IMO these games will help reflect the roster that will take the court when the season (finally) starts.

The holes in the lineup are too obvious for Lenny to be held responsible to the point where there's a Wilkens watch.

Something's gotta be done to strengthen the 5 spot.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Its hard for me to guage what is going on without seeing the games.I cant do that unfortunately until January. The thing that concerns me are reports of the team not playing with any intensity. That bothers me more than the final score right now because I realize that they are playing with the lineup but regardless of who is on the floor they should be playing hard.

Lenny is great teacher but I worry about his skills as a motivator.Hopefully he can turn things around when the lineup is more solidified.

You know what you're getting with Lenny. He's an offensive minded coach period. His strength is mostly directed in designing offensive plays. Asking for more than a good offensive season is asking too much from Lenny. I expect these Knicks to play a little better defense than they did under him last year, but I don't think he lasts the full season because his motivational methods seemed to have lost their effectiveness over the years.

It's not just the 5 spot.....

Sweetney has yet to start consistantly....If he is supposed to be the power fwd of the future and "a force in this league" then he needs to start every game and get 30 minutes in pre-season regardless if he plays well.

Guys like Marbs, Lenny, Herb, Aguirre, Isiah are the ones who said it. They think Sweetney is gonna be dominant then start him and stop the BS.

Timmy to me has proved nothing since he was the main one talking stuff. In the first two games that were televised he was acting uninterested......f that!!!

Wally always brings it. You can say what you want about him he is a high energy player and he's hungry. He plays with pride.

Let's get it together.....Marbs needs to play now....so what he played in the Olympics....if he wasn't in Greece he would have been in Harlem playing every Rucker game.....

Let's stop waiting for guys to show up or play to potential.....lets get it started already!!!!

There would have to be a huge riff between The Holy Ghost and THE Father to get him fired.

If the team goes thud, this one is on Isiah mostly. It will be Craws failure to comprehend patience, and a week frontline.
TT will have not elevated at all, and Marbs anger will get the best of him.

It is so premature to count Lenny out. At least wait until the seasn starts! LOL

We're not playing good basketball right now but you guys still have to remember that we were without Tim and Stephon last night. Lets not get carried away with these preseason games, we will look great at times, but we will also look like a lottery team other times. If this happens in the regular season, then Lenny will have to start worrying about his job.

It's not just the 5 spot.....
Most likely it is the 5 spot right now. Better yet, the Knicks lack a bonifide lethal Frontcourt player that can draw the double team and score like crazy. Also that can make a difference defensively.

Sweetney has yet to start consistantly....If he is supposed to be the power fwd of the future and "a force in this league" then he needs to start every game and get 30 minutes in pre-season regardless if he plays well.
Sweetney will be find. As a matter of fact, possibly an All -Star. Wait til the season.. Eventually he'll be playing somewhere around 35 min per game..

Timmy to me has proved nothing since he was the main one talking stuff. In the first two games that were televised he was acting uninterested......f that!!!
Only pre-season Bro..

They do need to rest Marbury and get him ready for the real season.
Duncan from a couple of yrs back, McDyess, Kidd, H20 and Vince Carter all were involved in the Olympics and sustain some sought of injury because they did not get enough rest.

The Future. GO KNICKS!

Who has actually even seen these games, non of them were on TV. From the box scores it looks like we are experimenting playing scrubs all over the place. The fact that they are not playin hard enough is there problem, it will cost most of them a job in the NBA for this season at least.

It's better to get the loosing out of the system before the regualar season anyyways lol.

Seriosly though, Lenny's ability to motivate is questionable. You'd hope that these overpaid babies did not need motivation over the insane money they are getting paid, but apparently they need a taks master and a babie sitter.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I listened to the Dallas game on the NBA's free streaming radio preview and it wasn't pretty. They were definitely playing to win, but as mentioned played like crap. Isiah says the Knicks would be lucky to be .500 after 20 games. If they aren't .500, Lenny will be lucky to have a job.

Well, I haven't been much of a fan of Lenny Wilken's coaching.

He's too "veteran" friendly. The team doesn't practice hard--- he's more likely to let the team relax in practice and save their energy for the real games. It becomes tough to just to turn it on and off.

Unlike other posters, I won't say he's too focused on offense. Fact is, I'm not sure what he does well. As far as I'm concerned, he's almost exactly the same coach as Don Cheaney. In a sense, I don't think Lenny Wilkens makes the team BETTER than the sum of its players.

The Knicks could use one of two types of coaches: a Phil Jackson-type, a guy who has done it before and will command respect. He has high expectations of his players. The other alternative would be a young up-and-comer a la Lawrence Frank/JVG, a scrappy student of the game who has always had to work hard to get where he is. Both of these types of coaches seem to have a knack of getting the most out of their benches and for putting their players in a position to succeed.

Look at what Frank is doing w/ the Nets. They're a shell of their former selves, yet I'm willing to bet he'll get that team at least near .500 in spite of it all through his strong preaching of defense and hard work.

Maybe the guy in line is Mark Aguirre... but as a player he was not exactly a player known for his strong defense. Phil is undoubtedly my pick--- the Knick players need to have roles defined by a strong coach . Back to Fratello--- his history of preaching D back on the Cavs has not been forgotten and I still don't know why Wilkens got the nod over him in the first place.
